Some of you guys kill me. Yes I would like to take home a million after taxes but I'm smart enough to know thats not going to happen and thats not what I signed up for but living wage would be nice I ate enough ramen in college and enough tuna first year damn it i want a steak is that to much to ask for being away from home for 80-90hrs a week moving people safely from A to B. I don't understand the just put up with it mentallity aka suck it up thats the main reason contracts suck thease days. See what happens when the new CAL contract is finished will they fight for what they lost or will they bend over and suck it up. I sure the whole fuel price thing is killing profits but thats going to be the what management points to just to save a buck. I wish I did'nt have a reason to b!@#$ but it is what it is.

I bet you cry once in while when you come home from the glamorous job of an airline pilot and as you fall asleep you just remembered that you have to go to work at a bar just make ends meet...

Actually, I bar back for a change of pace.... I also volunteer a few hours a month for the same reason.

I don't cry about flying not being glamorous. I am not seeking fame. Maybe that is why some folks are so unhappy... no glamor. It's a JOB. And a pretty easy one for me compared to:
Navy, spending six months per year at sea
Teaching high school, listening to parents blame me for their kids' bad behavior
Lifegarding.... okay, not as easy as that, but I don't have quite the same body I had then

No if you took the time to read my previous posts before jumping into the fray you'd see I'm NOT ok with current wages, work rules, etc. Doesn't mean I sit around whining about it day in and day out. As a matter of fact now that I have read some of YOUR previous posts I can see you are of the same my life sucks as a pilot mentality. All I'm saying is while trying to do my part to make things better I'm not going to sit around like the herd mentality and constantly b****. That serves ZERO purpose.

Bro did you NOT do your research into what a regional or mainline pilot's life was like before jumping into the deep end of the pool???? So you blindly just took an airline pilot job thinking it was all Candyland, money and glamour only to have it dawn on you it isn't? I mean ANYBODY could, within 5 minutes of moderate research, find what its really like in this business. THIS is what p***** me off about all this. People who claim ignorance about life as a pilot then act like they were issued a raw deal once hired.

Now LA County lifeguard....THAT was an easy job!!!!!!

actually i have read all of your previous posts, and took those into account with my response. i dont know where you get from my previous posts that im of the mentality you say. i am definitely not gonna come close to saying that im ok with where we are at. im actually pretty happy all things considered, especially considering that i've been furloughed already this year. i just don't think telling people to quit whining you should have known what you got into is the answer at all. im about finding a happy medium between complaining about the negative but enjoying what is still left (there's no denying right now the cons outweigh the pros, i just dont think that will last).

if you talk to enough of us it goes without saying that pilot's are the greatest complainers in the world. we could all be making six figures with great lives and would find something the rant about.

I did and life was alot better. I don't care how great you think life is now it was a hell of alot better before. I know I don't have to tell the expert but in days gone by pilots worked less got paid more and had a hot FA to flirt with.

"im miserable!

it may have something to do with the fact that im going into the last week of sims and have been sharing a room in a hotel since the beginning of march.

last week though, ready to be... "

Lemme guess, you said that in jest.

that was definitely intended as a joke perhaps i should have laid it on a little thicker, thought the second line would convey that. im been at it in ground school for a minute i am stoked about getting home and being done with this. and a little stressed as well! almost there though so it's all good in my hood.

At my regional, I just finished 11 of 14 days. Min days off (11 days) about every month blocked at a whopping 75 hours. 4 days all over weekends. Day lines no where to be found. And I've been there 7 1/2 years!

I gave up quality of life in the right seat to get my 1,000 hours and go on somewhere else. In the 6 months since then, age 65 has happened and now a merger. I don't think I have too many friends that are jealous...
