Question Republic hiring

I was placed in a hiring pool at republic and just noticed that they stopped hiring not too long ago. Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure they're still acquiring new 170s and plan on getting 190s eventually. Does anyone have any inside info on the timeframe for the next class?

They've stopped hiring?

I want to say that there's 25 more or less 170/175s coming this year with a few more confirmed orders 1Q next year.

They haven't stopped hiring, they just don't have class dates set past May yet.

Yeah, they're still advertising on their website for pilot positions.

I interviewed on 3/25. I have a class date of 4/21, originally to fly on the Republic certificate. Yesterday I got a call from Glenda (awesome lady, I might add) and she asked me if I'd mind flying on the Shuttle America certificate. Of course I said yes. I suspect they're keeping as close an eye as possible on staffing issues as more e-jets come online. The day of the interview, I was told 34 more would be arriving between now and 1Q 2009. Theoretically, that's about 300 pilots they need to hire to staff those jets. Of course, that doesn't even include attrition. I suspect people put in hiring pools will get firm dates pretty quickly.

While I'm not the least bit interested in the Kool-Aid at my new company, I'd just like to say that those of you in the pool probably don't have too much to worry about. RAH has been running FlightSafety over capacity for a long time, and they needed a few weeks off to put some overdue upgrades through, among other things. The company's still hiring, still taking new planes, and still running on the lean side in terms of scheduling. They'll probably fall short of the "700 pilots in '08" plan from last year, but they'll need a decent chunk of new pilots to cover the flying we've already got, let alone the new planes and attrition (slowing, but still present). Don't take that YV class date just yet...

The company had a plan in place for the rest of the year. The Freedom situation has changed the plans. The company is working on a new plan as of now. They have to wait and see what Delta has up their sleeve.

We are staffed pretty good, with some exceptions in a few bases. With the change in Delta's plans, our staffing is not so good. We were to start losing 135s beginning in a few months. It looks like we will be keeping them for just a bit longer, but still be gone by this time next year.

Frontier has put a wrench in the situation. I do not think(my opinion) that all the 170s from our S5 certificate that were dedicated for Frontier will be going, in the short term.

S5 will grow later this year with 175s and moving 10 170s over to United. Other than that, Republic may not get a lot of growth if they can not find a home for the 170s that the Frontier operation was suppose to get.

We are still interviewing. I believe that you will be place in a pool for the time being. Couple of months is what I hear.

More of my opinion = CVG closed this time next year. GSO and BUF will close some time in the next 6 to 12 months. This is based off of some info I have received from people in corporate and I put some pieces together. I could be off, but I feel pretty good about it.

Don't bury Frontier just yet, guys. They're not the kind of company that goes into Ch. 11 just to sell off assets. We won't be seeing the kind of expansion on the RJ side that people were expecting, but F9 doesn't have any immediate need to drop us from the certificate. Besides, Lynx is losing F9 more money than RW is...
