Default Turbo-prop pilots

Hey guys,

I am soon going to be starting simulator training for my airline, on the Dash-8. IF I pass the checkride, I may be in the market for a new head-set. I currently have the David Clark 13.4, but was thinking that it would probably be a good idea to get something a little better/more comfortable if I am going to start spending much more time in an airplane.

Question is, what headset do you guys suggest I look at?

Looking for something not more then around 600$ TOPS, and something that would last me a long time with good guarentee, or warentee. Something comfortable, and that will protect my hearing for the long haul.

What do you guys out there, use/recommend? What to stay away from?

Thanks for all replies.

Can't match the Bose X. Spend the money, you will not regret it.

It's for Piedmont.

I would just sport the Davids. But I think those would get heavy and really really uncomfortable after wearing them all the time.

Actually, really good question! I use my bose on the ATR and initially, I couldnt figure out why sound was only coming out of one ear. So I compared the bose jack to the company provided David Clamp jack and realised that mine has two black rings, and the DCs have one. (stereo vs. mono) I went to radio shack and bought a stereo to mono adapter (female stereo with male mono) and its worked like a dream ever since! Unfortunately, now that I am holding more senior lines, the senior CAs arent all that fond of headsets. .

Hope this info helps any of you who are as puzzled as I was!

Clarity Aloft ($695), used to have the Bose which was nice but I prefer the in-ear style.

Bose QC2 with the u-fly-mike adapter.. Costs around 5 hun-doh... I wear the Dave clamps. h10.13.4... works fine. But I really think that for long days the QC2 combo would be the best.. especially if you commute.
adios
