Default Chances of getting RDU with AWACS right off the bat?

Hey there!

I searched the forum and found several threads about this, but where dated from last 2007... Any recent info on RDU as a base (junior/senior) and how hard it would be to get it for new hires?

Thanks!
FS

Thanks for the update Flyboy!
LGA is definately a no-no for me, but if you guys are sending also to RDU then I guess there may be good chances of getting it fairly quickly...

Thanx!!

I interviewed at AWAC last Wednesday and they were saying that everyone is pretty much going to LGA. I wanted RDU as well, but it sounds like they have maybe 1-2 slots per class.

Yeah RDU initially went junior on the FO side, and then as the vacancies came out to continue staffing it up, more and more senior folks went over there, so now it is fairly senior.

Because the senior folks know that you never bid to a new base in the first month because the lines will be cr@p and as we've seen they didn't let us down.

Default RDU and LGA at AWAC

RDU and LGA are still going to be where newhires go. I would bet that anybody hired in the next few months would be able to get RDU before fall. Especially if you would take RDU reserve over a line in another domicile.

Here is a tidbit from our latest scheduling update

The amount of flying in PHL, DCA & ORF will be decreasing and the amount of time in LGA & RDU will increase.
Lines of flying below based on avg of 84:00 hours and will vary in each domicile and position based on respective staffing levels.

LOF May (31 days) June (30 days)

PHL.......... 103............ 94

ORF ......... 52............. 47

DCA ......... 61............ 53

LGA .......... 18............ 23

RDU .......... 17............ 25

There are still going to be a lot of 1 and 2 day trips in both RDU & LGA in June, mostly due to the low staffing numbers there.
