the Orlando Sentinel had an article a few weeks ago saying that Delta was reducing its Orlando operation to 25 flights per day, including mainline and regional flights. I wouldn't count on any permanent DCI base in MCO. They simply can't compete against Jet Blue, Airtran, and SouthWest on the domestic market there.

So that means they would get at the plane they are going to staff in MCO rather than ATL?

Thanks for the help fellas!

A Comair gate agent in CVG stopped me in the terminal yesterday and asked me if the rumors were true regarding an ASA base in CVG. Apparently, the same info has been swirling up there as well.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I will say that the rumors have been getting stronger about MCO and CVG.

If this comes to pass, I know ALOT of crews who will gladly take the change of scenary.

One thing is for sure, it should boost our on-time performance if we could spread the flying to other bases. ATL is killing our D-0 goals, no matter how hard the company and crews try to achieve an on-time performance.

Will it happen? We'll see.........Will it work? Let's hope!

Why would ASA have a CVG base with Comair being right there? Am I missing something? Do any of the other DCI carriers have a base in someone else's HQ?

SKW has a base in ATL, and Pinnacle also. ASA use to have a base in SLC (SKW HQ).

CHQ has a base in CVG, Shuttle has a crew base in ATL as well.

Thanks guys. It just sounded weird to me. Of course, I can see the ASA side of things with improving performance which would be easier to do through CVG than through ATL.

Recent announcement from the Comair company website, EPIC:

We expect to fly approximately 5 to 6 percent more block hours and between five and seven additional 50-seat aircraft beyond the original January forecast; and...
Our flights will be redistributed with an even greater presence -- roughly 50 percent of our operation -- in the Northeast.
Some discussion on the Comair board about this... in light of this ASA rumor, if we are "redistributing" the Comair flying from CVG to the northeast, maybe that means ASA will backfill some of our CVG flying?
