jfk sucks... probably the worst 6 months of my life... terrible ops, 270 bucks for the cheapest crash pad and its the worst place in the world... go to cvg

To each his own . . .

I stayed in a descent pad for $215. Saw the Mets play a few times, went to some great museums, and had some great food. It's what you make of it. If you think its going to be awful and just sit in you crash pad all day, then it will be a horrible time.

I know I typically stand up for JFK in most of my posts, but I just wish people would try it.

I agree, JFK isn't that horrible. Once you get out of the dreaded crash pad and hit Manhattan, it's not bad at all. If you're a crash pad hermit then you will get sick of JFK rather quickly.

Yeah, I love NY, but I don't need to live there to enjoy it. Decided it wasn't worth living in a crashpad for. I'll visit as often as I can and have my fun but it's just too expensive to live there, but I agree with Terantious that it isn't the horrible experience so many make it out to be.

JFK is great, I love the flying, the controlers are great, you can make lots of money with all the delays. Great crews and good people.

Interview

I will be interviewing with Comair next week... A couple of questions for those of you who work or have worked there. How hard would it be to commute from ord? Do they have a commuter clause? Typical price for a crashpad in cvg? Would it be better jfk or cvg? I have read the pay is only $800 a month during training, is this true? Also, is housing single or double occupancy during training? Also, is there a gouge to study for the 27 question test, such as aviationinterviews or something else where we can find what to study? Thanks for your responses...

BlueMoon 05-20-2008 09:21 AM

ORD shouldn't be too tough, abuot 6 to 8 flights a day I believe on Delta...then whatever UAL and AA has.

Crashpad in CVG is 150 to 350...depending on if you want to share or have your own room.

JFK would be a little tougher commute I think, just because it is JFK and delays happen there more often...also it is more expensive for a crash pad.

As for training I'll defer to someone who is in it for those questions.
