AWAC (Eastshore really) got rid of it's remaining 3 million shares almost a year ago...this isn't something that came up just recently due to "merger mania". Or maybe it was, the owners seem to have a good pulse as to what's going on in the airline world.
In regards to our SE taxi procedure, we have the lowest engine mx costs in the industry. This translates to a direct savings to the codeshare partner in terms of reduced total costs. I agree we need some sort of common sense applied here, as in sitting in line inching forward for 45 minutes with 2x engines going...no I agree that doesn't make sense.

If you read the latest web cast on the HUB (from yesterday I think) there are a few references to 50 seat flying at US Airways.
1) the only flying they CAN reduce is wholly owned. The others are under contract.
2) they are monitoring MESA very closely. And NOT renewing any of MESAs 50 seat flying.
Sorry I cant copy and paste from the webcast but its nice to read.

United has no wholly owned regional carriers. If the merger does happen, I see PSA and Piedmont prospering. PSA and Piedmont operate at far less expense than other companies like Republic or AWAC. That's why Parker wants us to fly more. It makes more sense from a financial standpoint. If the merger occurs, why would the new company want to get rid of it's biggest money makers and pay a different company more to do the same job?
But, back to the original thread. I have heard talk this week of US Airways being the name of the new company if the merger occurs. This would mean that Parker would remain the CEO. Since Parker believes so much in his wholly owneds, then that might have scared AWAC into selling their shares. Maybe not the case, but a plausible scenario.

Glen Tilton has absolutely no interest in continuing with his aviation career. He took the job because he saw $$$$$$$$$ for himself. Whom ever does merge with UA will run the show.
Anyone remember the first attempt at a UA and US merger in 2001? Remember what was to become of the PSA certificate? DC Air ring a bell?

Nnnnnnnnnnno. Not sure where you got that one. When UA and CO were in talks they had ten natively agreed to keep the UA name but CO management would run the show. That makes no sense. You say that you don't know where he got the idea that Parker would run the show, but then you go on to say that whomever merges with UAL will be running things. So which is it?

UGH!...........By saying that Doug Parker will run the show just because of the possibility that they will keep the US Airways name, makes no sence.........READ!!!!!!

You highlighted the statement about Parker being the CEO, then start your reply off with..."Nnnnnnnnnnno, Not sure where you got that one." That's what left me scratching my head when you clearly were trying to say that you thought that he would indeed be running things.

I heard from the Rumor mill that Parker met with PDT last week. If UAL and US were to merge, PDT and PSA are HISTORY! Parker wants this merger and in order to get it, he must let us go! This is one of UAL's demands.
