My IP said I had to make it sound cool when it was our turn to get handed off. Sure enough we get handed off and I just totally butcher it. He said nice one and have a good day. It was comicical in the jet..definitely thought about my radio call a little bit too hard that day!

That guy really seems to enjoy his job though.

I'd always fake him out with a mellow "Adios now" followed immediately by a huge SEEEEEYAAAAAA! If he liked it he'd respond AWWRIIIIGHT. Probably still does.

The "SeeeeeYa" Started in DFW and then migrated to ATL with the closing of the DFW base for ASA......It def. adds some fun to an otherwise routine day...plus it cracks most others up who've not heard it before

C-yaaaaaa is a Mesaba thing with DTW ATC to. Always brings a smile, cause I swear they only do it with us.
15 years ago there was a DAB controller who sounded like Kit from Knight Rider.

MSP has a girl on approach that has smokin, sultry voice. Everytime I hear her the thoughts I have would make Jenna Jameson blush.

The best controller I know is the good ground controller in LGA he always keeps his cool and keeps the traffic moving. The woman that does ground there could screw up one guy in the pattern on a VFR day.

Really? Ok, I stand corrected. I guess I have to pick up some more LGA flying to hear the difference then. Thanks man.

There was a lady working Sarajevo (Bosnia) approach that had this very dark, serious, sharp, eastern european tone in her voice... until you started being friendly to her on the radio. She immediately changed to a surprised, flattered, flirtatious tone and I was always left with the impression that I could get any thing (flight related) that I wanted.

LOL, Friend of mine (went to college together), cute, very petite. I don't fly down there very often but next time I do I'll tell her to put her daddy on the line. :)

No one has mentioned IAH, yet.

IAH Tower...we had Happy Richard. No matter how bad a day it was, he was always in a good mood and always made you smile. I think he just retired a few months ago. Great guy.

IAH Approach...Axe! Everybody that's ever flown in and out of IAH has had to have talked to Axe. You'd know him better as the Jetlincoln guy.

He had the greatest phrases, such as:

Pencil Jet (E145)
Bent-Wing Pencil Jet (E145XR)
Hoover (737)
Super Hoover (737-800)
Super Dooper Hoover (737-900)

He always told you to go fast no matter where you were coming in from. He'd keep your speed above 300 as long as he could. He could move some airplanes. He retired about a year or so ago.

My favorite memory of him was coming in from AEX very early in the morning, like before 6 or so. It was still dark and there were very few airplanes in the sky. Axe was working all sectors. I heard him talking to someone else as we got the handoff, so I checked in as "Jetlincoln 2XXX..." He always seemed to like it. Southwest checked on climbing out of HOU. His response was, "Southwest 902, Houston Departure, good morning. Proceed direct Whatchu Talkin' 'Bout." Southwest keyed the mike but didn't say anything. A few seconds later they queried the fix name. Axe responded with, "Southwest 902, cleared direct Whatchu Talkin' 'Bout WLLIS."

Next thing you hear is..."Oh! Ah...Huh huh. Direct WLLIS, 902. That was funny."

He responded with, "I know."

I used to love hearing the Jetlincoln guy when I flew COex in 95 in IAH, There was a co-pilot that had a drawl and he would check in as "jetlincoln XXXX" The contoller mimiced him, from then on, almost everyone started "jetlincoln" until FAA/COEX sent out a crew letter saying "cease and desist". We did, he didn't <g>

Years ago, Long Beach ATIS sounded like a 900 $#x line, we all joked she sounded so ....., so must have looked horrible, etc. On our last flight of the week we mentioned to ground we enjoyed ATIS all week, a corporate jet turning next to us piped up she "looked as hot as her voice" , The ground controller, replied "yep". Wished we had gone up to the tower <g>
