Default independence air

now that independence has been down for almost two months (officially at least), are there any opportunities to purchase any of their former CRJs... i am currently working for an operation that runs a scheduled air taxi in the northeast and is considering the upgrade to small regional (similar to colgan, but with CRJs) to run out of BDL... obviously, i wouldnt have to look much further than here for pilots, myself included, but where are these aircraft today and in what shape for how much money?

Last I saw, Independence had over 18 planes parked at Columbia, SC back in November last year. I got photos if you're interested. They all looked shiny and pretty.

The aircraft that you would be able to get your hands on are probably owned by GECAS. Some have gone to ASA, Skywest, and Air Canada Jazz. I know that there are still some sitting out in TUS as well. Don't know if they are available or already spoken for. All of the planes have been ferried out west- there aren't any left in CAE or IAD.

The planes were in decent condition, but there was quite a mess with the wrong engines on the wrong airframes, and some inspections that need to be completed before the planes can return to service.

You can check with various leasing companys such as GE Capital, GCAS, or even Bombardier. They should be able to provide you with the information you need. Your Vice President of Operations and a Corporate Executive of the company should make an overture to one of these leasing companies.

Good luck and may your airline be a success.

Hey slick, if you are the hot shot “Chuck Yeager” pilot you think you are... you shouldn't have any problems getting that job flying no matter where you go. If your carrier is the best in the air, then where’s the competition?

What in the world are you talking about!?!?!? I'm not looking for another job, and where does the "Hot shot Chuck Yeager" cheap shot come from??? And who said my carrier was the best?!?!? The DOT stats speak for my airline....we're the ones that are always at the bottom of the on-time list. You're an a$$, plain and simple.
