Default What's it like at Republic?

I'm an XJ Saab FO based in DTW, commuting from the D.C. area. I wonder how things are going at Republic these days, and trying to figure out if it is worth it/crazy to try to jump ship during this uncertain period. Intent, of course, would be to get based at DCA.

Umm.... are they even hiring? Is anyone hiring? You'll probably be better off staying at XJ.

Their website says they have FO job openings, so that's step one, but I realize this is a hell of a time to try to get in. Just wondering...

If you're senior to me, I'd say go for it !! If your junior to me, please stay here.

i'd say the validity depends on how far down on the XJ list you are, if you're sitting only 5-10 from the bottom, and hiring has halted over there as well, you won't be worse off over at republic, if hiring is still going on where you're at, i don't see a lot of reason to leave given the current state of the industry, especially if you've got some seniority...unless of course, XJ is a sinking ship, then you might just be ahead of the curve.

You have a job, haven't been handed a furlough letter and you want to start at the back of the line again? If you leave XJ you'll probably be out of a job for a while. Stay put, that pay check you're getting is a good thing.

Are you NUTTS? you have a job and the grass looks slightly greener at republic so you'd consider leaving your guarenteed paycheck at XJ for a pool at republic and the bottom of the list? The only way you should be even thinking of this is if you are 90% sure you're getting a furlough notice soon and even then apply without leaving your job.
