Were about 200 guys short right now, and are close to needing street CA's due to a lack of qualified F/O's. The Mesa pilot development guys are subject to higher upgrade mins, so it takes them longer to hit their number.
Not saying to come to work here, just shedding light on the truth. Industry sucks right now, and Mesa is no exception. Stay away from all airlines. |

Apparently anyone with an airline apps account will get it. They are still short on the CRJ side, but I'd imagine it will be like the Comair fiasco, hiring one day and furloughing the next.

You guys are all over the place. The only thing safe to say is that it's not consistent.
SkW is consistent on new hires.... double occupancy, paid by the company, 60 hours of first year pay. No training contract.

Hotel is provided - double occupancy, just like several other regionals.

If I remember from some recent students the hotel accomodations are also paid for and you do have seperate rooms. Some students stay in four bed room housing at ASU.

Trainees are provided a single-occupancy hotel room, or a single-ocupancy room in a 3 or 4 bedroom, 2 bath house. Trainees are paid 70 hours per month at the year 1 CRJ FO rate.

Yes, you are correct, for awhile they did have to provide their own housing while going through training. Today, as the venerable Bruce Morey has stated, all newhire FOs are provided housing over at Willie Gateway.

I got the same email and no it is NOT true that they make you pay for your own hotel. They do give you a roommate but Mesa pays for it.

My friend started in May and stayed at a house that is on the ASU East campus. The housing is former Air Force base houses and now used for students and the projects. The houses were decent and close to where the training is. They usually give everyone their own room but you may have to share a bathroom. The living arrangements are actually better than most regionals. I would prefer sharing a house rather than a small hotel room.
It will be interesting to see if Mesa still feels the need to file Chapter 11 before July 20th even though they have some glimmer of hope after they made some progress with their lawsuit with Delta. |

I had been flying for 8 years (2 and change professionally) when I upgraded to captain. |

I'll help you read between the lines. 1) Hotel is provided at no cost to the employee. 2) Each employee will be housed at: a.) A three or four bedroom house, in which you will have your own room. -or- b) The Del Rio Hotel, double occupancy. In either case, transportation is provided to and from the PHX airport and the training center at Williams Gateway Airport. Each new-hire is paid 70 hours per 28 days and 1 year CRJ FO pay. |

Since many of them had never seen an airplane before their year and a half stint at Mesa pilot development, and were hired with 200-300 hours, I think its in the interest of safety that they have higher upgrade mins than just ATP mins.

July 20th is the date that Mesa stated they would file Chapter 11 by if they didn't win the court battle with Delta. They won the first round but it isn't over, Delta appealed and own the aircraft that Mesa was flying. I don't know if they started the flying again or not. Maybe someone out there can let us know. That is 20% of their profit they are loosing if they aren't flying it and are loosing in other routes, they are still struggling.
There are a lot of other factors that have to line up in order for them to not fold. They are bleeding in Hawaii, they are short pilots even in this economy, and they are are suppose to pay out their share holders soon. |
BTW, I am not hoping that Mesa crumbles. I know there are a lot of haters out there but there are a lot of good pilots flying for them.
For all those people that are bitter that their minimums are so low and MPD graduates are flying a jet with 250 hours in their logbook, good for them. There are many days I wish I did that and moved on to the airlines much faster than sweating my butt off in a hot Cessna logging one hour at a time. In the long run, if they never get furloughed, the program pays itself off if they make it to the majors faster than the pilots that built their time the old fashion way by dropping parachuters and flight instructing. Can't blame them for it. |
