PSA Updates?
I saw on avianation.com this morning that PSA had an ad out for pilots.... are they ramping up again for interviews or is this just some sort of sick joke since the furlough? Thoughts or ideas?

Could just be an ad that PSA paid for prior to all of the reduction announcements, and since the ad is paid for, the site is running it. Something similar happened with Comair recently that stirred up the same curiosity.

OK.... that makes sense.... although wouldn't it be prudent of the company to cancel or put a hold on an ad like this especially with the current state of the industry? Do they have any power over this sort of thing?

A friend of mine flies for PSA and he told me those on furlough were told it would last through September or there abouts. That news came about three weeks ago so things could have changed. He did tell me people were leaving PSA all together because they were tired of the boom/bust nature of the industry. I don't know how many are leaving or if the furlough news is even correct, but I thought I would add it to the discussion.

"Optimist" is not a word that I would use to describe myself (and you know about people/orefaces/opinions), and I don't expect anything before 2009.

There are 27 on furlough. That means that HR has 35 other calls to place first before your phone will ring. Depending on how long this this drags on and how many come back, it could be awhile. As of right now, I wouldn't plan on a September class. Some furloughed folks could have to go to ground and the sim again (nobody really knows) -- all of this before the first new hire class starts. The official word was that it would be a minimum of 2 months (July-August), but in a normal year, the flying usually is reduced in the fall/winter. That means there could be more joining the PSA furlough party.

Yea, I want to get into my FO job but flight instructing out of Springfield Airport near Dayton is fun. Got lucky to get a flying job while I wait this one out. Hope it is before 2009, if not, nothing I can do about it.
