Reducing flight weight
I was just thinking with all of the efforts being made to reduce weight to maximize fuel, do you think management might reduce the amount of non-reving or jump seating on any given flight? Probably not I realize, but if they start calculating a possible average savings of upwards to 500 pounds per flight that isn't making them any sort of cash they could start re-thinking their policies.

This is why some airlines are starting to charge a flat fees plus mileage for nonrev traveling. (i.e. DAL)

They could start with some of the F/A's...

While it may seem to have no value I think just being a benefit to the employees that is nearly free to the airline would give it worth. I know of many airline employees and such that only have the job for the travel benefits.
I wish I had a sugar mama so I could say the same. |
Here's a better idea for saving cost- instead of spending tens (or hundreds) of millions on executive salaries, pay them something more reasonable. Which Homo sapiens can't make ends meet with 2,000,000 USD per year?

Spoiled little brats that think they are better than everyone else and have always had a silver spoon in their mouth, and need large sums of money to make up for their small peckers, ie. airline management. |

Let's take it a little further. Which Homo sapiens can't make ends meet with 70,000 USD per year? Any airline pilot that makes more than that should have to give it back. In fact, everyone should get the same pay, then we could live in harmony and sing together over the holidays (no one works holidays either!) Rag on executive salaries all you want, the fact is, executives make what the markets (and Boards) allow. If it's so easy, get a job as an executive. I'm not defending their decisions, only that it's infantile to make blankets accusations and think that somehow you'd affect change. |
