They could still be flying but pastor BB decided not to take the chance at running a loss, instead he wanted to furlough 176...all hail the prophet of good tidings!

was really hoping this thread was about Frontier Flying 175's under their own colors...as opposed to a regional doing it....damn....

Its my undertstanding that frontier was several months behind in their payments to RAH for the contract flying..... thus the reason the rev ran a preemptive strike....

I think F9 will continue to exist, but they might not be the same carrier that we know now.

Have they put forth their restructuring plan yet?

F9 owes us ~2.5 million dollars according to Republic director of operations.

Don't be so quick to count out F9 at the expense of SW...

F9 did report record load factors each month for the past 4... over that period they have been flying the Airbus on the old E170 routes. Not bad considering the size of the airplanes they are flying on a 76 seat route.

It turns out, actually, that the DeHavilland Canada Dash 8, in all shapes and sizes, is God's gift to the industry, regardless of what the passengers think about riding in turboprop airplanes. ;)

The -8 is sexier anyway.

Man, I like this guy..

Well, to show you why I like propeller airplanes (turboprop or not) so much:

(For details, please consult Vol. 44, No 9, Air Classics)

;) Long live propeller aircraft of any sort. And maybe I'm a little "old school"...

I rode a Mesa -8-200 (I think it was a -200, although all I remember is the tail number being N801HA or something ending in 1HA) from DRO to PHX a month or so ago. For ops like that, I prefer it to an RJ. It was 37C in Durango and, while the airplane wasn't full, it was 75% or greater with big heavy bags in back. No problem at all.

Too, there's a reason why outfits like Era in Alaska don't have any jets. When all the regionals got orgasmic about the RJ and unloaded their turboprops, Era snapped up a few -100s. It's arguably the only airplane that can do the mission that Era serves.

Also: the smartest regional carrier I know of is ditching their CRJs and going to all Q400s. Now, I'm not privy to the inner goings-on at Horizon, although I suspect that they have figured out that most RJs just aren't worth it for the missions they fly. (Consider SkyWest's Durango operation: it's CRJs to SLC and DEN. Isn't that overkill?)
