Want to check in with somebody - make the Gate Agent or the Flight Attendant fell special.

Best you all just grab a seat and enjoy the ride.

Typical response: Blah, Blah.....back in the day we hand propped DC-3's.......
I completely DISAGREE withyour statements.
1. No asset to us up front? What world do you live in? Why don't you remember back to the UAL DC10 that crashed in Sioux City Iowa. They had a guy come up and help. You never, NEVER know when you might need the help. Don't shun it.

2. They cause a distraction by checking in. GET A LIFE! I'll tell you, it's nice to know who's in the back. ABP's, a helping hand if something goes wrong and certainly added security. I feel better knowing that a JSer checked in with me so that if the FA has some kind of emergency she's not alone back there.

3. Now days the procedures take the CA out of the loop? That's laziness and how do you know it's a ligitiamte JS? People can and have gotten by the gate agents with BS.

4. It's about courtesy and respect. Obviously two qualities you don't possess.

In fact, they can usually be seen up in the gate area at 79 duking it out for who gets the ride home and who has to two-leg it on Horizon out of SJC!
That's cool, but I certainly don't change every time I nonrev home on USAir. Lot of times I'm running from a late flight and already checked in and listed, but almost always in uniform.

Just a thought, but certinaly not arguing with ya.

Ok....I work the ramp/gate at BNA for eagle and I was talking to a CA the other day who said he thinks all nonrevs should check in if they are employees (not spouses or friends). I'm not sure how much help a ramper would be unless somebody needed help destroying their carry-on, but if I ever see this CA on a flight I'm on I guess I would check in with him.
