2,3,4 day trips
I'm going to send my stuff out to the regionals in a short time. I was wondering if someone could tell me how the trips work? If you have a two day trip, typically, how many days off do you have when you get home? Same thing with three and four day trips? Also, if your on a three day trip, do you come home on your last full day? (Ex. work mon, tues, wen, come home at the end of wensday) However, I'm sure it changes airline to airline. My current flying job has me coming home every night. Thanks.....

Bingo.
Where I am at seems typical. It could be anything and everything. A long trip can end at 10am or 10pm and you could have another trip the next day or you can get a couple of days off. Or one day off and then another trip.

2 day trips are usually followed by another 2 day trip, ending up with a 4 on 3 off schedule. Guys who live in base can like this alot. Only 2 nights away from home a week. Sometimes the the first 2 day is early show, early finish, the second being late show late finish. Finishing the first 2 day you are home early aftenoon and show up for the next 2 day in the aftenoon. Giving you almost 24 hours off.
3 day trips can vary. If its productive, it can show early (before 12 noon) and finish late (somtimes after 8 pm). Some can be as high as 18-19 hours of flying. These trips can be tireing, with short overnights and loooong days. The upside, 3 days on, 4 days off. Lots of time at home.
4 day trips can be all over. Show at 6 am on day 1, duty off at 8 am on day 4. Or, show at 6 pm on day 1, duty off at 8-10 pm on day 4. This type of trip will usually have atleast one long overnight in there somwhere. The best 4 day for a commuter is the late show (late enough to commute in) and an early finish (early enough to catch a ride home). No crashpad/hotels. The worst case is the early show late duty off 4 day worth anything less 20 hours of flying.

Beware though otter, some companys only give you a certian number of days off a month and then they obide by 1 in 7, or sometimes even 24 in 7 which might not even give you a full day off. 10 days off a month is the lowest I've seen. While you can't always read a contract before signing on, you can always ask for specifics from us!

At Eagle (DFW Saab) they've introduced some one day trip lines into our bid pack. If you like being home every night or have a reason to be home every night, this would be a pretty good deal. I doubt that they have this on the jet though... Personally, although I live in base, I prefer some overnights.

Just picture putting all the trips and days off into a big hat, shaking them all up, and building a schedule that way. That pretty typical here at ASA, unless you are extremely senior, and even then it's slim pickings at times.
