They've done it too me too many times and I was sick of it. I figure my sick time counts for situations like this..

I got held up this morning in military uniform and boarding pass going back to Iraq. My mistake? I used my airline ID as my form ID to accompany my boarding pass because I still had it out from JS-ing from Orlando (with no problems at security.)
TSA: "You're not in uniform."
Me: "Yes, I am."
TSA: "I mean airline uniform."
Me: "I don't have to be."
TSA: "Then you need a boarding pass."
Me: "You're holding it."
TSA: "I need to get a supervisor..."
Me: (Under my breath) "...No. Just a clue."

Saxman,
Yeah, you have learned just how uneven it is! I've been down this road, working and been a selectee (I flew the airplane in and was scheduled to DH out, they FORCED the crew to exit security and secondary screened us on the way back in.)
Then I was in GFK (I think you know the place), which is WAY out of my former employers area of ops. I was SSSS but in uniform, they told me their policy was if you don't beep, we waive the secondary! BTW, I was JS, my wife was in line behind me with a pass, she got the whole strip/body cavity search. No, she wasn't impressed.
Do what you did, and realize that some airports will require you to get something from the ticket counter. Good luck, now you know why I am glad that I rarely see that side of the airport any more.

Felt like walking back to the other checkpoint and boasting how the other guys let me through. Didn't think it would be a good idea though.
