73

They're yet ANOTHER regional airline partner for Delta now, flying CRJ 900's

Guess I'm behind the times. Hey, it wasn't too long ago when I found out that CHQ no longer flies J32s out of IND... and that Shuttle America was no longer a Dash-8 operator out of BDL!

Andy... what is happening between Midwest/Republic is nothing new, therefore nobody should be surprised, except the tables are turned. Every regional has been apart of some sort of growth at some other airlines expense, as has mainline. It's called the airline business and has a fancy name for it... whipsaw.

The big difference at the regional level is that none of these regional airlines actually own any of their flying. It is all flying that is owned by mainline that is allocated to whatever operator the mainline mgmt wants. Pinnacle is not stealing Comair flying, they're just taking over flying traditionally flown by Comair or other DL connection partners. Same stuff at NWA, AA, CO, US etc...

A JFK base might make sense, especially when we eventually merger operations with Colgan...

There are definitely a ton of 9E people begging for a west coast base. LAX would be a wet dream for many people, and DL needs someone to make up for XJET eventually. It'll probably be Skywest, but who knows.

None of the above? ;)

But seriously.

Wow... that means Comair will be furloughing back to the 2004 hires. Boy will that suck. Want to bet no voluntaries?

If Comair furloughs to 1000 and keeps the 60/40 ratio CVG to JFK, here's what you're left with:

Seniority to hold: (junior reserve)

CVG Captain......14 years
CVG FO...........6.5 years
JFK Captain......9.5 years
JFK FO...............4 years

At least we can stick it to the company when we start negotiations in 2011! :)

The third is pretty much done hiring.

And the second is in full hiring swing once again. 2 saab classes and 2 jet classes (1 for each type) each month going into the future.

Airsupport 09-14-2008 11:43 AM

pinnacle is having 2 new hire classes a month till the end of the year.
