In my case, that is true. But I don't think flying a lot is necessarily indicative of working a lot... what I mean is, it is absolutely possible to have flown 1,000 hrs and have worked LESS than someone who flew 900 hrs. For me, working means any time I am on duty. Even when I have long sits at airports, that is WORK (even though they don't pay me for it!) At places like Colgan, we often have long duty days with not much block... for example, 10 hr duty day with 5 hrs block. Whereas an efficiently built line could have a pilot flying 6 hrs with 8 hrs duty day, for example. Depending on where you work and what kind of seniority you have, you could have a 30 hr line with 11 days off, or 90 hr line, with 15 days off. That's what I mean.

Anyway, from what I'm reading so far, it sounds like for someone timing out, what you get in Dec. is based purely on either what mgmt says or what the contract says depending on if you're unionzed or not. Well, we don't have a contract here, so I think the important thing to know is if mgmt can indeed LEGALLY give me non-flying tasks or not pay me guarantee in Dec.

I know a flight attendant who has been here at TSA for almost two years and she has flown somewhere in the vicinity of 200 hours. Bid that reserve and use your sick time wisely.

I then bid the first 2 weeks of JAN off also. Ended up getting paid for 2 months without ever having to go to work. It was fantastic.

I flew that much in 7 months, and I still didn't set the per month record here.
