Federal Training for Airline Pilot Gun Carring Permit
I have a question concerning the right of airline pilots to be armed in the cockpit. I know that the pilots have to volunteer and pay for their own training for the permit. However, I am curious which companies allow it and what the process is for the pilot. I have a friend who currently flies for Colgan and we were discussing this. Does Colgan endorse this? Reason I thought so was, it was a US Airways flight were the pilot was stupid and discharged his weapon on approach not too long ago. And if they do, and you are an FO, does the Capt of each flight have the right to refuse the weapon aboard his aircraft as per the FAR's if a civilian PAX was to come aboard or are the authorized reguardless?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sorry, but if you have to ask, you don't need to know. Your friend at Colgan should be able to find out there. On a side note, nothing personal, just that is exactly the kind of stuff I am not going to put on the internet.

haha, I guess thanks for the replies, but I know what the training is called and where it takes place..etc. He is not interested in joining the program we were just talking about it 10 mins ago and I thought I'd post it to find more info. But that still doesn't answer the main question about a capt's decision to refuse the firearm aboard.
