Reykjavic was a three-day stopover for us on a trip to Sweden. Amazing scenery, like driving around on another planet. Great nightlife and place to party, but WHOA, the booze is pricey! I think the ideal way to see it would be 8-10 days and rent a car, and drive the "ring road" the goes all the way around the island, with a few days in 3 or 4 towns on the way around.
On another note -- anyone have any advice on jumpseating internationally on US Airways? I plan on just listing at the ticket counter 3-4 hours prior to the flight. I'm an off-line jumpseater attempting to add another place to my list. :) |
I've been to Berlin, and eaten some weinersnitzel, and drank a ton of good beer.

I have Jumpseated on US Airways internationally as an offline jumpseater quite a bit. Try and list before arriving to the airport 1-800-325-9999 is the number I use. There is a tax associated with traveling internationally. Try to pay it when you first check in. I flew IAH-CLT-SXM and they didn't charge me in Houston. So I needed to go to the employee travel office in Charlotte where the lady was a little angry that I hadn't paid in IAH. Oh well, live and learn. |
Hope Town, Abaco , Bahamas in July. Wow.

I always wanted to travel to Bern, but I have been to New Bern. Not as nice compared to the regional, I am told.

How was SXM?? Easy to get around on foot, or do you need a cab/rent-a-car? Any buses or anything that will take you around that arent too pricey? How are the prices?
Everything you really need is within a walking distance of the airport. However if you want to go other places on the island you can hail down a "bus" really just a small van crammed with seats. And it will drop you off anywhere for 2 bucks. Everything is a bit expensive except for alcohol. A 40oz of Dominican Rum will run you about $3. Depending on what airline you work for you could also jumpseat out of there to some of the out Islands. We used to jump down to St Kitts to a PGA quality golf course on the ocean. 18 holes with a cart was 50 bucks. |
