Places you have traveled too.
 

As an regional pilot, where are some of the coolest/best places you guys have traveled out too using your travel privelages? For how long? Was it pricey?

What are some good places to just catch a flight too, and where you don't have to worry about a rent-a-car or anything, just catch a bus into town.

For example in NY at LGA, you walk out of the terminal and for a 2$ bus ride can catch a bus right into Manhattan. What are some other cool places where you can do that?

One place I really want to go to is Alaska (as far as "domestic" travel goes), but I want to check out the sites there, the lakes, mountains, etc. so I imagine that would be a full tour type of deal, which might get pricey.

Mooney, how was Bora Bora? Pricey? What airlines fly into there? Flights usually full?

I havent really gone anywhere yet. I have 4 consecutive days off a month, and would like to find a few good places to visit. I would just pack a duffel bag full of ramen noodles for food, so money is definently an issue.

Went to Munich for Oktoberfest this year. Paid $50 for the airfare tax. The hotel was the most expensive part though, mainly because of how booked all the hotels were.

In the past 18 months I have gone to:

Germany (Cologne and the Ahr Valley)
Ecuador (Guayaquil)
Argentina (Buenos Aires)
Malawi, Africa (Lilongwe, Salima, and Lake Malawi)

Future trips for 2009 will possibly be:

Peru, Uruguay, Shanghai PRC, Hong Kong, London, and perhaps Vietnam.

I'd say the best bet for a neophyte traveler of the places I've been would be Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lots to do, excellent food, even better wines, all in a beautiful setting. In addition, the city is very pedestrian freindly (i.e. you will not need a car), and the "SubTe" (BA's subway) will take you within a few blocks of just about anywhere in town for USD$0.30, and taxis are ubiquitous and cheap. Best of all: Its an inexpensive place to stay and dine. One of the few truly affordable places left. A glorious repast can be had for less than USD$20. Amazing place. Germany (as mentioned above) is incredible as well, just quite a bit more expensive.
