Default Domestic Hub Plans For The New Delta

I think the key word to this article is "Preliminary".

What is that mumbo jumbo about Delta looking to INCREASE capacity at "domestic hubs" by 14.5% by the first of next year? Tell that to Comair and CVG....

Shouldn't we want all increases to be at the mainline level??

It means more higher-paying pilot jobs, which is good for all of us.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please feel free to correct yourself as well.

Oh yeah, the writer of that article must have forgotten that Comair is entitled to all of Delta's flying and all of CVG

I taste a hint of sarcasm in your post, but in the event that you're serious, allow me to remind you that Comair has 200+ on the street with another 100 and change to follow in early 2009......

"....would be good for Memphis seem to be preliminarily true as Delta announced Wednesday that the combined airline would be adding flights here. The new flights will include improved connections to Atlanta as well as new flights to New York-JFK and Salt Lake City."

I'm sure there'll be a ton of flights added to ATL, JFK, and SLC. What they fail to mention is all the cuts, cut BNA, BTR, MSY, XNA, STL, ORD, and pretty much anywhere BUT to Delta's "new" hubs.

Pure speculation on my part but I think in 1 to 1.5 years MEM and CVG will be ghost towns like PIT and STL.

I completely agree. It's very unfortunate, and I have to wonder how the DCI flying would get redistributed without a MEM and CVG hub. It's too bad...Delta has some nice facilities in Concourses A and B at CVG. But then again, it doesn't make much sense to have full-blown hubs so close to ATL and DTW, especially with the industry in such poor shape. Anybody remember when USAir had a BWI hub on top of PIT and PHL?

Well the latest CR9 vacancy at Mesaba has almost everyone going to MEM. Course we also have been short staffed on it there all summer. And based on tomorrow's ready reserve show time in DTW, MEM is still short. Man I love having to sit reserve for 2 bases in the same day

Why would places like BNA get cut? There's 6 a day on NW to DTW, and they are all overbooked. I would know, I commute it every week. The ATL flights are the same way, about 8 a day, and all loaded. I dont see BNA losing much service FWIW.

He was talking about discontinuing service to those cities out of MEM.
