Quote: Of course not. If I were you I would not pay too much attention to someone who is not even hired yet.The current hiring is for projected and planned growth. When I relayed the hiring news back in September, there were even XJ people like Avroman here dismissing it as nonsense. Now the hiring projection has come true. I would put more weight on what the Director of Ops and other managers are saying over line pilots on this forum. Mesaba is slated to receive 15 CRJ9s and has a bid for additional flying for DAL. DAL has the bid out for awarding additional 35 RJ9 flying. Mesaba thinks it will get some or all of this additional flying. Base managers have predicted correctly earlier this year that Mesaba will get the 15 additional CRJ9s despite all the negative downers and naysayers on this forum, and now they are saying Mesaba will get at least 15 more on top of that. Mesaba is getting another new CRJ900 sim in MSP September of 2009. That brings the total CRJ900 simulator in MSP to 2. Connect the dots.Attrition right now has crawled to a stop because no one is hiring at the majors and the age 65 has put a stop to any mandatory retirement. If Flowthrough resumes next year, 108 pilot per year from Mesaba will flow to DAL. No one knows if DAL will resume hiring in 2009. This is all dependent on how the economy turns next year. If it goes on the downward spiral, we will all be out of jobs.

What are the projections for 2009 and what are the chances that those new hires will be on the 900

Sorry for the doubt... But after being here through all the bs with the original "big announcement" in 2005 that amounted to 1 CR2, -35 Avros, -13 Saabs, and 225 furloughs I was in a believe it when they are operational here mode.

Hey guys, In the middle of a cover letter to Mesaba. Should I mention that I am in the PSA hiring pool (so they can see that airlines will hire me) or should I leave it out. What do you guys think?

Ill be the devils advocate for you.

-so you think because PSA is better so we are supposed hire you too

-great, so he will probably leave when they give him a call

I personally would leave it out. It in no way tells them why Mesaba should hire you. They could care less that PSA thought you would make a good fit. Use the space to tell them why Mesaba should hire you.

We also have two saab sims for a 43 aircraft fleet, so I wouldnt base the projected number of aircraft on the number of sims. Just a thought

Uh... we have 49 saabs. And at one point we had over 80. And at one point last year we were using both of ours and the ones in STL. So... while still conjecture, the bigger the fleet = a bigger training department and facilities necessary.

Yep 49 total. You can't quote the bid back as total aircraft as it says "scheduled" or something like that. I think one spare per base roughly and the rest rotated through heavy checks and new seats
