at Skywest the bid opens on the 10th, closes on the 17th. sometime on the 19th we get our award, and we can start trading, and dropping on the 24th.

I was at Commutair for a while, and nothing ****ed me off more then not knowing how crappy my life would be for then next month until 2 days prior!

At PDT bid packages are distributed on the first Friday of every month, our requests must be submitted by the following Tuesday. The company distributes hard line awards on that Friday. Build up lines and reserve lines are distributed in the following two weeks. So hard line holders know in the middle of the month and reserve/build up line holders have around 1.5 weeks. Doesn't seem too bad, but I think at Airways mainline they get something like an entire month - something to the effect of bids for December would have been out in October. Now that's good scheduling.

Sorry to hear the rough life for those who don't know until it is too late to plan for things....good luck in fighting the good flight to make changes!

We know about 12 hours in advance, sometimes 12 minutes. Yes, part 121.

The guys and gals at Colgan rarely know the week before. There are no set dates and you may have to rebid after the lines you just submitted were reworked to make each one equal at 11 days off with reserve days and stand ups! If the awards aren't out you just show up on the first to see if you fly, but knowing Colgan, you'll sit "hot reserve" anyway for no pay ;) But seriously, no consistency with bid packages, no firm dates for awards, no grace period for trip trades and absolutely no dropping trips. I'm guess we get ours on the 30th this month with the holiday and then the weekend. I'm sure Noone will be working then so next mon is my guess!

AWAC captain bids are early in the month, like around the 4th or 5th. Bid award is on Monday and the final schedules for the next month are issued around the 12th or 13th.

F/Os are a week later and their final schedules are published around the 20th or so.

I always know mine months in advance because I am senior.

Lakes= Monthly schedules come out on the 10th. Bid submission by the 15th. Awards by the 20th. Seems to normally work out pretty well. Sometimes schedules are out a few days late, which gives us a few more days to submit the bid, but we almost always know our award by the 20th.

We had our bid packets by around the 14th or somewhere along those lines and they were due by the 17th and today is the 24th and we still have nothing.

Flight attendants who have a union had their packets early into the second week of the month, bids due around the 15th or so and have had their lines since the 17th or 18th. All of the lines are done by the same people, pilots just get them a week+ later.
