And, if you tollerate poor performance, there is no correction, and no learning taking place... as a CFI, I would think that you would be aware of that.... so... tollerating the whining without helping them understand just how lucky they are is not doing them any good.

You're right, i'm wrong ... is that what you wanted to hear there? Sorry if you took that comment so personally, it was meant as more of a joke than anything else (I just didn't read that anyone had been whining when you posted that comment) ... I put time into instructing, I got a lot out of it ... and yes, I do realize that if you don't correct them, no learning takes place. Kind of the whole premise behind INSTRUCTING.

I'm not saying that it's OK to whine at all. EVERYONE in this industry should be lucky to be getting a paycheck right now with everything going on. I've told people at my own company that I don't want to hear it when they start complaining before.

But, anyway, yes, I loved instructing, and would be happy to do it on the side if it was allowed (I guess technically it is as long as you are really careful about the hour requirements of your airline).

I did four years as an A&P/Install Tech at a repair station prior to my job with a regional. And I love breaking them a lot more than fixing them, despite the 15k/yr pay cut I took! Did about 100 hours of traffic watch (let's here it for 7.25/hr!) part time the year prior to this to keep current and pay for seminole time, also to keep current. Got hired with about 300 hours, which is ridiculous, but I'm not complaining obviously. Never even got my CFI, which I sometimes kind of regret, but I got here without it, so not really.

I was an instructor for 2 years. You think that is bad, try to fly single pilot in a light twin over the Cascades at night, with ice building up faster than you can blow it off. I did that for 10 months and wonder if i will make it home each night. In that 10 months, 2 pilots from another 135 outfit died, and it makes me wonder if i would be next.

Never was a CFI.

instructuted for 18 months and started applying to regionals when i hit their mins back at 1000 and 100. I didnt leave my cfi job until I had 1300 and 200 or so. I scared myself enough times to know what should be flown in and what shouldnt be. nothing like the inside of a thunderstorm as viewed from a duchess!
