The undercutting Mesa pride of turbofan and paxhauler are so easy to see from the outside, but they don't see it from the inside looking out. This is easy to understand, because most workers want to be proud of where they work and what they represent. When I used to work for Mesa I thought the same thing, but after a few months I realized what a criminal, working class busting piece of crap company Mesa is.
It's too bad that everyone doesn't realize that. I guess its kind of like Stockholm syndrome. You feel bad for JO and think he is your savior. Reality check, JO doesn't give a @#$ about YV and F8 pilots. Whoever thinks that he does hasn't learned yet. He's a criminal. It really is discouraging to see ALPA allow Mesa underbidding pilots illegally (all porn deleting lies aside) put other higher paid (ALOHA) pilots out of work and allow them to steal their livery. Sure, the union can't stop capitalism, but they sure as #@$ can educate Mesa pilots on how their corrupt management is ruining this profession. The $10 fares that Mesa pilot paychecks subsidized is what doomed Aloha. If you don't believe me guys, just ask some ex-Aloha pilots who YOU put out of work. |

it's my fault that your life as a regional airline pilot sucks. Sorry I ruined your life, bro! :D I would love one of you Mesa bashers to come out from hiding behind your keyboard and argue this silliness with me in person. After two years of flying for Mesa, I've yet to have one person say anything to my face, and I jumpseat on other regionals a lot. You think that your company legally went into the Hawaiian market. Wrong. You lied about porn deletion and the files your management saw regarding the books of the competitors. That's what Republic didn't do. It is your fault that others are furloughed man! Mesa does ruin lives! As you say, we live in a capitalistic society. You're right! So for every dollar less per hour, fewer days off per month and harder you work for Mesa, you do undercut your fellow pilots that you 'oh so wish we could unite together'. When you jumpseat on other regionals, they are not going to tell you off to your face about who you work for. That would be unprofessional. What you don't see is what we are thinking. We are thinking when you approach the flight deck for a jumpseat is this "here is another guy who wants to do my job for less." If you wanna meet for coffee sometime we can talk about your viewpoints and your defense of JO and Mesa. Maybe we can get you to realize what is really going on. I hope this thread doesn't get flagged by the mods. It's the cold hard truth, not flamebait and talks about everything that is bringing down our profession. |

I worked under him at COEX. Feel bad for my Mesa compatriots. |

As much as you don't like it Tzadik, NWA757 has a point especially since he knows what he's talking about since he's been there. Also, the fact that it's not going to be a 100% NO to this TA is very disturbing and sends the wrong message to fellow pilots who are looking at Mesa pilots to raise the bar.

I want to throw up just at the thought of JO possibly having the privilege of using the Aloha name.

Perhaps you don't understand that if the JO's and BB's of the world continue their destruction of larger carriers (Aloha/Midwest), there will be no bigger and better for anyone to move on to. If Mesa ends up with the Aloha name, it's just more salt in the wound inflicted by that low life piece of trash. |

The example is this. I used to work for ExpressJet, a regional with a leading contract, great QOL and the highest 50 seat pay out there. Got it? Now, Continental was able to find other regional pilots who would work for less at Colgan and CHQ and therefore I was furloughed from my second year at ExpressJet. I was on pace to make over $45k my second year. I wonder if Colgan FOs are able to do that, while flying 74 seats? If Continental knew that they couldn't find underbidding pilots to fly larger aircraft, then they perhaps would have given the new flying to ExpressJet in order to have a more efficient operation. But nope thats not how it works when one union's members underbids another. The same story applies to Mesa. Mesa has underbid regionals at almost every major carrier all because they allow their management to. How does JO do it? By forcing you to 'work your asses off'. In the meantime you put higher paid pilots out of work. I guess there will always be people that disagree with the standard of fee for departure pilots, and those people usually go work at places with sub-standard pay and work rules. |
