Default Will XJet Furlough?

I know this question involves a lot of speculation, but do you guys think that ExpressJet will furlough when Continental pull 69 planes; pending they have found no other work for those aircraft.

I ask, because I am thinking about applying there this summer.

Thanks for the input!

If they lose the airplanes, I don't see how they could avoid a furlough. However, if I understand correctly, it would be a gradual phase-out with the schedule known in advance, so a lot of voluntary attrition would likely occur amongst the junior pilots as they seek jobs elsewhere. You would probably see it coming far enough out to get another job.

Sounds similar from what I've heard from the inside. A lot of winks and nods from management and scary mentions of FlyI-esque operations. Seems like they have a plan for the jets one way or the other but I have not heard anything definite. The phaseout will be gradual if it happens. All speculation though. Ill worry about it when it happens. Till then, just keeping the ears to the ground.

This question is truly impossible to answer at this time. Things are looking good from what I have heard though. Sounds like the 69 planes will either be flown by expressjet elsewhere or continued to be operated for CAL. Put your App. in right away. From what I have heard hiring will slow down in June/July. Good luck

As appealing as that sounds, I'd rather not. Just call their number from the website and ask for your ref #. I did the same thing. The person on the phone was super friendly and it took all of 3 minutes.
