Today PSA is in Junior Man Mode. So i don't know how they are going to downgrade and furlough more. They squeezed all the blood out of this rock. There is nothing left. I think even 20 furloughs would be a stretch, especially since CLT has flying now. DAY and TYS have VERY few on reserve and now CLT should only have about 14 on reserve total as well. |

Yeah there is no way they can furlough 30 unless planes are parked... I have heard they can cut up to 20 with the one plane we have in paint not online... realistically 10-15 if they wanted to start flying the reserves up to the 72 hours
1 of 36 planes is about 3% of the fleet. 3% of the seniority list is 10 pilots. Was the 10 arbitrarily doubled to 20 to make it a better, more intense rumor? Compass would furlough for a reduction of block hours, airplanes going away, or flowback. All three of those are possible but let's rule out an airplane being painted as a cause of furlough at a company that has reserve captains flying 50 hours in the right seat and 20 in the left every month because there aren't enough copilots out of training yet. |

Let's show how bizarre this one is.

Here's a thought that might make you guys all feel a little more secure, that is if you are an optimist like myself.
I do not think there will be furloughs at PSA or at Compass. Why, because even though majors will be cutting back around 17% in domestic flying, most of this is due to decrease in leisure fliers. Most of the aviation analysis I have read indicate the domestic business flying will remain intact or decrease slightly. Most of any losses in domestic flying will be absorbed by majors by significant increase in international flying in the next 5 years. What this means is that regionals like PSA, Compass, and few other regionals will wind up flying most of the domestic flying that was cut out of the majors. Now, I know some of you are saying well that is just as bad because regionals are taking over mainline routes but that's been happening already in the last few years. Yeah, I know it sucks because it means we will be stuck at regionals for a long time but at least we will have jobs until majors get back on their feet and start hiring. This Age 65 rule change and the economy really put a screeching halt to hiring at the majors, but in the next 5 years most of these age 60 guys and gals will be retiring, which will be significant numbers. Just hang in there. We are all in it together. See you all out there in the wild blue yonder. |

I think he meant PSA blacktops were being painted so one is almost always parked. Still would only acount for about 12 pilots at most.

This is the same thing one of the CP's told me. Once painted, they will start bringing FO's back accordingly.

Well then how many still need to be painted? And how long does it take to paint each one?
I'll do one a day for the nominal fee of 10 cases of rattle can paint, and a 30 pack of Bud Light. And a run to jack in the box for a bag full of 99 cent tacos at some point. |

Comair is in Junior Man mode and downgrading and furloughing all at once, and has been for two months. |
CP stopped the hiring at 320-ish instead of the original 360 planned to account for 3 "inactive" planes: one in paint (DL), one in maint., one "hot" spare. Even with that we are still pretty short though... I've been in both seats the past few days. There are lots of "critical" trips as previously mentioned too. If there are furloughs here in the future it would only be because of a DL furlough/flowback, and even then it's limited to 20 per month.
