If there are furloughs here in the future it would only be because of a DL furlough/flowback, and even then it's limited to 20 per month.

Just looked at the contract and there is no monthly limit to flow down. Only the flow up has a limit of 20 per month. If they can get more through training they can flow down more.

It's not flame bait, I justed wanted to see if you CZ guys knew anything about this, because I'm pretty sure the guy I heard this from is full of crap. I'll tell you guys where I heard this from. I overheard this yesterday from one of the Comair MEC guys, he was going around saying that Compass will be furloughing, but it hasn't been announced, yet. Now, how the hell would our MEC know what the hell is going on at Compass before you guys even knew? I doubt it is true, because our MEC is full of crap.

Dont know how many we have left to paint, but they are down there for about 3 weeks during painting. At $40k a pop too I hear.

I hope you guys aren't picking up these trips. Our chief pilot did the company a favor a couple monhts ago by stopping upgrades and stopping at 40 pilots short of what was projected. He did a very good job, and he's proud of it.! Didn't you know he proudly proclaims how we saved 35-40 millon dollars because of his greatness..Enjoy your days off and dont pick up these trips. Let the company see how far ahead our chief pilot and crew planner was looking. This is the only way we will get what we want on the pilot side. We'll have a couple cancelations and that will wake them up, then the upgrades will resume and more new hires (our friends out there looking for a job) will get hired...

I have always considered myself as leaning towards management on most issues. This however is an excellent and well thought out strategy. I would support this. Let them junior assign you as they can only do that so many times a quarter. I certainly see the need to scale back the original hiring numbers because of the 3 "dead" aircraft for 2009. However, to then run short on purpose below that number is not good business sense. At this time training slots are available at CAE and other training providers. There is no reason not to have pilots in the training quene at this time other than to keep costs down and impress DAL. If this strtegy by management is allowed to prevail and become the norm it is not going to be good for the Compass pilots.

Hi!

DAL/NWA flowbacks?

DAL just announced buyouts offered to ALL DAL/NWA employees EXCEPT pilots (and 2 other groups). DAL is cutting back, but NOT allowing pilots to leave. What does that tell you?

I agree. I loaded up my schedule for December (mainly because I had to in order to get the days off I needed thanks to JK's f'ing with FLICA, but also for some extra spending $$$) but having found out that they're stopping at 320 and are obviously looking to run the airline permanently lean, I have no interest in enabling them to do so. I'll be flying my line and that's it from here on in, thanks.

Nothing yet. Since the pilots are Union, any buyouts would have to be negotiated first.

Yeah, no kidding. Isn't a day off worth more that time and a half (especially when the base rate is $23 bucks an hour)? And the junior-manning at CP is getting ridiculous - I have had calls from scheduling (not answered, of course) 5 TIMES since Sunday, 12/7. How they expect this work, I do not know.
