10 of Mesaba CR9's going to ASA

A 50 seat at Air Wisconsin doesn't cost the same as a 50 seat at PSA or CHQ. The number of seats isn't the only deciding factor.

Not to be pee in anyone's Cheerio's here, but XJET had very little luck finding a home for their spare ERJs, and that was BEFORE fuel spiked. I realize it has since come back down, but now airlines are aware that oil can exceed $140 a barrel. As a matter of fact, the only home XJET found for their spare RJs was a short stint at DCI. I don't think there are any carriers that want to add 50 seaters to their fleet, even if they are replacements. If they do, it would most likely be an agreement like those discussed earlier in which ASA would be responsible for all operating costs(including fuel). The profits would only be there for ASA if they were there for whomever they operated the jets for. JMO.
The 50 seat market is shrinking but it won't disappear...

How much of ASAs fleet does ASA.Skywest Inc. own? Does ASA lease anything from DL? That could be a huge reason as to why ASA will operate these 10 900s. DL wants to get rid of 200s and it's easier to tell someone to get rid of their own stuff with a carrot, than to get rid of stuff they make payments on.
In otherwords... it makes better financial sense to find a way to get rid of as many 200s in the system that DL doesn't pay for (wholly owned a/c or a/c they lease to the contractors). That's why it sounds like they went to ASA and made them this deal. Whereas it's harder for DL to park planes they pay for... as in the ones they lease and then sublease to Pinnacle and Mesaba.

My point was US Airways is under long-term contract for a big chunk of 50 seaters among multiple airlines today, and Doug Parker has publicly said multiple times he thinks LCC has too many 50 seaters...so why the F would US Airways want more 50 seaters?

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if ASA ends up in IAD for UAL with the CR2's. I know they're trying to dump them for CR7's but they could end up there until they can be converted over. But don’t expect ORD or anything further west anything soon.

I never said it would disappear, but if it's shrinking then where will ASA put those airplanes? Plus, lets hope the replacements are at mainline. That provides better jobs for all of us.

Again I agree I hope to be looking up at you on the DAL list one day, hopefully sooner than later.

It is amazing how many regional pilots are enjoying the guys who are getting furloughed at the majors...what a pathetic group. So many are pounding their chest saying HA HA! They will be silenced once recalls happen and they do not know what to say.

Who's happy about majors furloughing? Also, how would recalls be anything but good for regional pilots?
