Mcartier713 – Block is the actual flight time, logged from door close to door open. Credit is the time you get paid for, which varies depending on company rules and union contract. At our company, minimum credit time is 3.75 HRS per day of flying, regardless of any block time equaling less than this for that day. Another quick example is nap lines, which typically block about 40 a month, but give approximately 80 hrs credit for the month.
I logged 380 for the year a reserve FO. I was averaging about between 35 to 40 hrs a month back in the spring, but when the cut-backs took effect, I went 60 days without flying this Fall. December was a return to normal with 35 hrs, but I had to put myself on ‘call me first’. ASA FO.

I spent 9 years at Expressjet, so I thought I'd shed a little difference now that I've moved on:
Last year: 2008
Hours flown: 429.7 (B-737)
Days flown: 85 (average of 5 hours per day)
Days "off": 12 per month (reserve)
Days at home: 23 per month (live within driving distance of airport)
Yearly gross income: $145,660.83 (third year pay)
When the hiring starts again at the majors, remember this and good luck.
