Well isn't there a third option.

1) Leather

2) non leather (cardboard style) still Jepp

3) non leather (duraflo) vinyl.

I have option three and I think they will last the longest. The cardboards ones look cheap (but they are not).

The leather ones are nice. For me I would go door 1 or 3.

Cheap 3 ring from officemax works great. Costs much less than either. Buy that, and some of those reinforcements for the holes in the hub airports and you'll still spend about $30 less.

Thanks a ton for all the feedback everyone, starting a 4 day tomorrow and decided to give the $5 office max cheapo a shot. I'm a firm believer that you get what you pay for, but on a broke fo's pay I figured why not give it a shot.

Leather looks classier and will last you the rest of your career.

Only advice is to put a drop or two of oil in the opening/closing mechanism. I had a lever break off once because the friction in there was too great.

When my 'pleather' company-issued Jepp binders are done (pretty soon) I'm getting leather for those too.

Get the leathers. They cost more now, but like others have said they will last the rest of your career, and you won't have to bother with duct tape... ever.

Look at used book stores, usually a good bet because they don't know what they have. Bought one for 9.99 in brand new condition
