A positive new day

Everything here is so negative. Tell us about something positive in your day, I'll start:

My youngest son started crawling today, and I wasnt at work to miss it.
I am sure someone can top this, look to the east and the sun will rise....

I just took out a beer from the refrigerator... Best of all, there are many more left… :D

Actually, dude, (and I say this without one iota of sarcasm) nobody can top that. CONGRATULATIONS to you, mom, and the newest "ambulator". It's great that you were home, too.

As you well know (you referred to "youngest son"), right now you're getting him to walk and talk. In a few short months it'll be "Sit down! Shut up!"

This will continue until about 2030. :D

Sigep – didn’t mean to discount your little boy’s progress with my silly joke above; I’m glad you were there to witness it, I’m sure it’s a great feeling to see that…

I know you wanted “real” positive day replies so here it is...

- Not too long ago my mom had a surgery and she managed to beat brain cancer - so I smile pretty much every day now… :)

rotorhead1026 01-23-2009 01:05 AM

Best of all, there are many more left…
Speaking of that, I was in a "dry" state (Gujarat) last month but was moved to Haryana (wet), so send some of that extra beer over here! :D

Can't top crawling or beating cancer (hooray!) but it's the best I can do. Too many brewski's and I'll be crawling, too!

Beechlover 01-23-2009 02:04 AM

Well let's see.., got called back from furlough a few months ago, my 18month old granddaughter is beginning to talk, and I am on reserve but live in base so life is good!

Pontius Pilot 01-23-2009 06:47 AM

The male Blue Jay brought his female companion with him to my bird feeder - and a pair of Cardinals came by too.

Congrats to you and the family.
I know how that is. Got 4 kids and only saw 2 of them crawl for the first time.

Here is my positive thought today, I'm alive, all my bone and organs still work, it's sunny and cloudless, and it's friday which means happy hour with my friends this afternoon.

seafeye 01-23-2009 08:05 AM

It's a good day....

My cat thru up on the tile instead of the carpet.

flynavyj 01-23-2009 08:11 AM

Congrats on your child crawling....And that's awesome to hear that someone's mom beat cancer. I don't have anything that would compare to those...But, my cat threw up to, and my warned me to keep and eye on him...The good news, i was at home to be warned, and it's friday! that's worth celebrating all in it's own.

Double date, was it awkward?

I have a job doing what I love (despite all the bs), I live in Michigan (20 F) and have spent the last 16 hrs in Texas (75 F), and I can't help thinking that there's nowhere for things to go but up at this point:rolleyes:

*TD looks over his shoulder and the two bottles of crown on the fridge and wonders if he should follow suit... who needs to work out anyway.

Where did you live in Texas? How could you possibly not love it? How you leave? Last I checked Chuck Norris didn't pretend he was from Michigan and no one would be better for Pres than Willie.

It's still cheaper than a couple of new car payments. Drive it 'till it won't go no more! :)

This is all that this thread was meant to be, and I hope we can all spread good news to each other, I know there is always plenty of bad news, and whether it be an extra beer in the fridge that we might have overlooked, or a good sunset you get to see from a panoramic view unlike any other, tommorow is a new day, go Cards, and go Phil (mickelson that is). Seriously though some ones kid has got to be talking by now:D

By the way anyone tried to quit smoking/chewing lately. Any success, and if so what did you do to help, gum, patch, heroin? Next positive step I plan to take, but would like to know techniques, and us pilots are all about techniques I think.

Well, I guess you won't be posting here on this thread February 1st. :D

Seriously, I quit in 1983. First three weeks were unshirted hell. What helped was that I had gotten back into running and swimming. The exercise routine got a lot easier after three weeks without smoking. I couldn't bear the thought (and pain) of lighting up again. It helped.

DYNASTY HVY 01-24-2009 04:03 AM

Arrived back home this am to find out that I will be a Grandfather sometime in April.
BTW it's a boy !:)

I quit in 88 -hey rotorhead, we're old farts-, and here is how i did it. Back in those days niccorette was prescribed, but expensive as hell. I never liked chewing gum continuosly and noticed that chewing niccorette for a few hours would leave me with no desire to even talk. So i switched to chewing gum. Everytime i wanted to smoke, i'd pop a new piece of gum. By the 4-5 hours of doing this with a about 8 pieces in, you want nothing to do with a cigarette, believe me. Did this for less than 2 weeks and just quit that way. One note though, watch your appetite, as your body will start to crave all kinds of things at all kinds of hours. You will gain weight but just watch it.
To the future grandpa, congrats. The best thing about grankids, you can always send them back home.:D
Btw, I'm grateful that today is another sunny, cloudless, low 60s day in FL.

CaptCoolHand 01-24-2009 06:50 AM

I slept through my first 7 hours of rsv today! Woke up and found two peanuts in the couch and a nickle! only .45 to go and i get a free beer from the machine!

Mine (2dogs) always find the carpet, right next to the bed.... It's like they want to give you a present. Here ya go dad kibble and grass!

Did you teach it to make the tile? I must learn this trick.

Nightsky 01-24-2009 12:38 PM

Had a fantastic day of skiing yesterday. I can never get enough of it!

CaptainCarl 01-24-2009 01:12 PM

After living most of my life in Texas, I finally got a pair of boots yesterday. 'Bout dang time...

JetPipeOverht 01-24-2009 01:37 PM

I've traveled over 10,000+ miles and many different time zones this month on delta's dime :) ( First class all the way if you can believe it )

Got a recall notice last week. Goin back to work and no more waiting for unemployment and wsting time with my Wii.
The good thing is that I am going back to fly. Bad news is that I wont get to spend as much time with my fiance as I have the last 5 months.

MikeB525 01-24-2009 01:55 PM

-Started my first graduate class (science) and think I'm going to like it.

-Got tentatively hired (still waiting for formal confirmation and start date) to be a pharmacy tech at a new drug store opening up in my town. I hate my current company.

-Got a new health plan offered through my school that gives me student health access and lots of additional coverage, and will save me close to $900 over the next 8 months as opposed to the plan I'm currently enrolled in.

-With added income and general life improvements I should get back into flying actively soon.

Get that CFI and you won't have to spend so much time at the boring job.

Good for you brother.....congrats!!

Luv2Rotate 01-24-2009 02:53 PM

I woke up with the same woman next to me. Does that count?

250 or point 65 01-24-2009 03:13 PM

yes it does!

Got displaced, then in the last week, got a furlough notice, got laid off from my 2 year relationship (over facebook...and i dont even have facebook, heard through friends before she told me), got sick on a trip and had to spend 24 in TUL, basically my life just crumbled.

HOWEVER, doing my best to see that it'll get put back together better than it was and best of all...

....there's nothing keeping me in St. Louis anymore! I'm outtie!

Jay5150 01-24-2009 03:42 PM

Maybe I should mind my own business but.....

I can't sleep, (body clock's all f'd up)

It will get better. If you can afford to,... stick it out.

I'm on a 102 hour layover in Amman, Jordan. Tomorrow, the other FO and I are taking a bus to Aqaba for some scuba diving,... Red Sea style.

It wasn't that long ago that I was loving the layovers in Flint, Saginaw, Erie, PIT etc... looking for some free bowling or cheap beers. And I've got a furlough t-shirt (4.7 years)

But this side a'int that bad.

While you're waitin', don't miss the good stuff....... And a youngin' startin' to crawl...........

That's the good stuff....

good on ya, and the crawlmeister:D

Lowlevel 01-24-2009 04:47 PM

Got furloughed on the 19th......not so bad, not the end of the world.....took a few days with my girlfriend and headed to Vegas....was there about an hour, hit for 200.00 on a slot machine and she hit 160.00. Next day, she hit for 450.00 more! We had a great time and actually saved most of the money (because I am furloughed and waiting for the UI to start). Headed home and got stuck in ATL (which is ALWAYS the case when I try to nonrev through there!)....but you know what, I got an extra night to spend with the one I love and that was great! Got home.....checked the mail and had a letter for an interview at a place I applied, not flying...but more money (which isnt hard to do on 3rd year FO pay).

All in all...a great week!

JoeyMeatballs 01-24-2009 04:51 PM

Maybe we are all negative because we are realists..............
