Default CRJ1000 Sighting in ICT...

Buzzing around ICT today was the CRJ1000NG...We got a few good looks at it as they were taxiing around with that plethora of probes and what-not indicative of flight-testing. Why is ICT so popular for flight-tests, by the way?

Anyway...it didn't look much larger than a -900, and it was pretty damn sharp, but I saw the rest of my career sitting in that glorified RJ I'm in the wrong business! Each and every day, island-hopping or bush-flying looks more and more appealing...

I don't know of too many majors whose scope would allow that thing at a regional. Hopefully it stays that way.

Yet...ugh. Let's hope we've all learned that lesson by now! Wasn't there a large order placed for it overseas not too long ago? Actually, I don't really see that thing flying under an N-number for quite some time. Oh, and happened to have a GoJet Pilot NRSA on-board. Guess he knows better than to ask for the Jumpseat

I believe Bombardier/Lear have a base there and flat Kansas would be a good place to test airplanes, would it not?

Not to mention the wind for some xwind action.

They do have a plant in Wichita, but I believe they only make their Lear business jets there.

I'm a local in the Wichita area. It's true that they only produce learjets there, but they do flight testing of all Bombardier products, to include CRJ, Lear, and Challengers.

Yeah those crosswinds are wicked...Here I am today, thinking that I'll start my base to final turn to 1R just a little early with the winds out of the NE, and they damn near change direction in the matter of a few hundred feet...so what was supposed to be a smooth, squared-transition to short-final was really nothing more than an awkward dog-leg semi-final haha. Always a suprise with the winds down there -- and it sounded like they were testing for tailwind takeoffs, blasting off 19L. How do I get that job?! LoL

What is US Airways' seat scope limit? They could get those things (Mesa would fly them) and throw a few rows of first class seats in order to meet the scope requirements. Isn't that what Delta did with the CRJ-900? Lets hope I am terribly wrong!
