These events seem to hit the smaller, more tight knit, company's the hardest. I know, I was at Simmons in '94, (Roselawn ATR). Lost some good friends.

My heart goes out to all of you, Godspeed...

I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who have talked personally about the crew. I have actually smiled a few times reading about them. I was one of the early posters on a the first thread on this subject and it is still making me sick. The personal notes and memories has helped me with this horrific accident, and for that, I again thank you.

AV8OR- thank you for bringing up the 9/11 widow. That is what I was reading through the post looking for to see if I needed to post it. She had just met with the President to talk about 9/11. The loss of my brother and sisters has hit me hard, but learning of the widow was just another shot to the gut.

My prayers now also go out to the family and friends of Beverly Ekhert. You have lost two family members to tragic and unspeakable incidents. For that, I honestly have no words that could even begin to comfort you for a loss so overwhelming.

I flew with Marvin a number of times when he was an FO on the Saab at IAH. You're right, you'd have liked him...a lot. He was a great guy to fly with. Professional, calm, very competent, cautious, and thorough. We flew a three day trip together in October 2006. We had an aborted takeoff in ABI. He handled his responsibilities perfectly, professionally, and proactively, just like a routine simulator evolution. He always displayed great care for his crew and for his passengers. He made my life easy as my FO. I'd have flown with him anytime, anywhere. To his family - if there was something he could have done, I assure you, Marvin tried to do it.

When I fly west for the final time, he's one of the first I'll look for and find. I did not know the rest of the crew. My deepest thoughts and wishes to their family and friends. They could not have made their final flight with anyone finer.
This is a terrible tragedy and my heart goes out to all the friends and families. I worked there for a year and my heart sank when I heard the news. I'm sorry for your loss man. Great post Weaclrs.

Rebecca Shaw was a local girl who recently moved to a house not too far away. The Seattle Times article has a great picture of her during graduation from CWU in Ellensburg.

I wanted to say I have a few friends at Colgan and I understand how tight knit you guys and gals are. Your Mesaba brothers and sisters send you there condolences as well as there hand to help you in any way we can. It could have been anybody last night and from what I have read on here it sounds like we lost three very professional and highly talented aviators. If you need anything just find a XJ pilot and we will help you out. I gotta check my bank of buddy passes but any I have I will give if you need them. I know we like to sometimes rub other peoples airline the wrong way but in the end we all are equal and we feel joy, pain, and sorrow together as a whole for we are not just Colgan or Mesaba, or Mesa, but rather airline pilots, whose professionalism and courage lead us to strength and unity.

-Farv

When I get done with these reserve days I will definently have a drink for them.

I just read from vagabond's link that the FO was only 24. So young it just doesn't seem fair. Doesn't even seem fair that something like this happen at all. Made me think of the AA crash that happen in NY not too long after 9/11. We all chose to fly because we love it and we accept the risks hoping it would never happen to us. I also had friends at Colgan and my heart stopped when I found out about it. My condolences to you all and their loved ones.

Next time we are up there take a min to look out the window, you might just see them flying along with us to ensure we make it safe.

God Speed.
