The Indian gentlemen were very interested in the plane and told us they were starting some sort of small airline back home. They asked us if we wanted to come fly for them, and we told them we'd think about it (our polite way of saying "no thankyou"). I'm not sure if the A/C was already sold at that point or not, but I think they were very impressed.

Interesting. Thanks.

I wonder if they looked at any that XE used to operate.

I can't say for certain that IAH is worse since i've never flown a Saab in MEM during summer, but I'd be willing to put money on it that you'd rather be in MEM than IAH during summer

I wouldn't count on much if any hiring even with an increase in flying, since PBS will be starting soon. That will cause about a 10% cut in the need for pilots.... So supposedly even with increased flying for the summer we still will be about 100 overstaffed (before couting any types of temporary leave) because of PBS starting.

10% cut in pilots? I have yet to hear of a 10% cut because of PBS...it has been said that it would be a 3-5% cut once PBS was up and running. Still we will have less aircraft starting in April due to painting so I don't see them taking anyone out of the pool.

Saabs in Florida!

Man, that sounds like fun. Having to double HP on the ground to keep people from passing out and then bouncing in the thermals at 3,000 ft all the way to your destination......wait, that sounds just like the Saabs in Houston.

Well it will be a relative number among each fleet and base depending on current staffing. Basically though it is the end of bidding into conflict and the end of build-up reserves. Look at how many build-up lines are available. There are 11 out of 79 total lines for D9C in March which is normal from what I have seen. Granted a couple of those will become flying lines but the rest become excess people.... So 3 more flying lines 8 now unneeded lines that's right at 10% of the lines(pilots).
Also the staffing situation question was asked in recurrent Thursday and my previous post was the answer given.

Not to thread hijack here, but what is PBS?? (Yes I am aware of public broadcasting station for all you smart donkeys!) I've seen people mention it before, but I'm not quite sure what it is. I believe it has something to do with the bidding system, but I'm not sure how it affects staffing.
