If I have to generalize for the entire industry, my guess is a trickle recall effect starting later this year, some have already started, but I think more will be late summer into the winter. I think 2009 is pretty much a wash for pilot hiring though. If things dont get too much worse, recalls will continue into 2010 and depending on how the airline structure looks then, (slowly) street hires around summer 2010 at some places, others will be nursing their recall banks into 2011. I really dont think we will see a full turn around until 2011-2012 in this industry, 2-3 years. That is my guess.

Eagle's supposed to hire in the summer. I think we'll start to see things move a little later in the year. But yea 2009 is going to be brutal for new hires. For us furloughed it might be a little better. I wonder if we're going to break any records as far as furlough time at the regionals though. What were some of the longest??

In the summer of 2006 I was only 140 guys from upgrading when they cancelled all upgrades, and in the summer of 2007 I was 47 from upgrading before they started downgrading, and in the summer of 2008 I was only 6 guys from upgrading before they started downgrades, so if you follow the statistical trend I will upgrade this summer. Two months after I get furloughed.
So hang in there, you should be upgrading soon!
