willflyforcash: What about the illegal aliens that are massively CONTRIBUTING to our society? How, you might ask? My taking low paying jobs that no one else will, which keeps our food prices lower at the market. By paying property taxes on the homes they own. By paying income taxes, just like everyone else (there ARE illegals with SSNs that pay taxes, just like I do). What about American born, American citizens, who are LEECHING off our system? Are they any better? I say, if you CAN work, and you choose NOT to, that you get NO welfare and NO foodstamps! Get off the coach, or lose your support, you butthead! Illegal Aliens, in the first place, are not even the issue. Do we worry about illegal aliens from Canada? No. Do we worry about illegal aliens from China? No. Do we worry about illegal aliens from the Carribean, or Africa? No. What we are really saying, is we don't like MEXICANS. That's right, DIRTY MEXICANS! This is really just like the Nazis, and other groups, that picked on the Jews in hard times. Because of our situation, we can't really blame everything on the Jews this time, so those of us in the positions of power and influence, who want to divide our country, and make scapegoats of SOMEONE, picked the Mexicans. They sometimes admit it, but usually cover it up by saying "Illegal Aliens". Just admit it. What they want, is a Kristallnacht against the Mexicans, so they can feel better, and advance their own power, and make more money. And to think most of them say they are "Conservative Christians". I think Christ would be helping the Mexicans, and saying guys like Limbaugh should be put in jail, or at least ignored and isolated, as a cancer on our society, just like Jesus did to those in power at the temples of his day. cliff GRB I do not think the basic premise against illegals from anywhere, including Mexico, is racist. I think the objection to illegals (from anywhere) has to do with the long term health of our nation's sovereignty, economy, and welfare and safety of the U.S.'s LEGAL citizens and immigrants. I actually admire the illegals who have come here in an attempt to better their lives, but they are breaking the law. I have a problem with people who use false SSN's (reference your above statement about illegals with SSN's paying taxes. Cliff, if they're illegal, it's a false or stolen SSN.), and displace other legal U.S. citizens and legal immigrants of ALL ethnicities from jobs either directly or by contributing to the erosion of the wage scales in those jobs. |
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Yes we are in tough economic times. But why do we fight amongst one another. The enemy is not who and from what country is working here. The enemy is the fat cats running the organizations/airlines with the big Salaries and the BIG bonuses (one bonus of 1 million can get 28 furloughed pilots back on the payroll). If we as a group put as much effort into fighting the fat cats as we did in the forum we would all be employed and the economy on the right track. All I see is us stabbing one another in the back to get ahead.......We can all be employed if we get rid of the fat cats and their so called I lost 60 million for my company but get a 8 Million bonus this year. That is why so many of us qre out of work......GREED....nothing to do with Green Cards. If you don't agree or agree....Great...I serve to give you that right.... So thanks to those that served. They are who allow you to banter back and forth. Back to 350 to find a job to feed my kids...........I didn't get a bonus this year. |

I guess I should just **** off back to England then! :)
I've been working and paying taxes in this country for 10 years. My family's business has pumped quite a few pennies into this country's economy and puts the food on the table of numerous other families. I've been a green card holder for 7 years and can't wait to get my citizenship. To do that I must rescind my British passport. I have to say that most of the rhetoric displayed on this thread is somewhat flawed. Are you people saying that we should put a hiring freeze on non-citizens until every American has a job regardless of profession or skill? |

No requirement to give up your UK passport. There are many dual UK/US nationals, me included! Try Google - works great!

Well, I'm still waiting to see if they contact me for an interview..

The only thing is you need to fib on the oath when you say you will give up all ties to foreign countries and queens. |

90% of this thread has nothing to do with the original topic.

Why lie about it? Either take the oath and mean it, or don't take it at all. We have a 200 year history of being best buds with the UK, you can be a committed US citizen and not be at odds with the UK in any way.

Jobs in America belong to Americans first. If there's any left over after that, then we can let them take up the slack. Last, I do have my hours and an airline job. Jobs in America belong to the best qualified person for the job. What you are proposing is absurd and pretty much impossible. |
