Default Why does the trashbag hang on the FO's chair?

Why not the other chair?
Is it so the FO knows where to put the pay check?
Or is it the symbol of the FO's career, in the trash...

At my airline, the evacuation SOP is for the FO to be the first one off the airplane. With a trash bag full of old jep revisions, it makes it hard to even exit the cockpit in a civilized way.

So i ask you this, where should the trash bag go?
Why not hang it some where else such as a hook some where else in the cockpit? away from either pilots chair...

Post up your answer and any additional comments.

for example,

"The captain blew his nose with a tissue and then tossed the tissue towards the trashbag hanging on the FO side armrest, the tissue missed the bag and landed on my arm." - FML

Maybe we should hang it on the thrust levers, that would be right in the middle of the cockpit, or how about on the Heading Select knob, that would be great too!

Back in the day when I used to fly, there was a bag on each armrest.

Diver, I think you are much too young to have two senior FAs on each armrest.

Ok, end of thread drift.

Since 99% of them could be my mother and about 60% my grandmother... ya, you're right.

Their are plenty of F/O's who think it should be wrapped around the captains neck. Apparently, that's the only way they'll upgrade with the way things are going.

I wish this was my biggest dilemma in this career.....

maybe cause it's always been hung there for so long it is habit putting it there? I had the trash on my side when I was an fo and didn't mind. Jessemh the real question is when you upgrade are you going to start hanging it on your chair or just leave it on the FO side?
