PSA Recalls.....Again

Just got my recall notice via FedEx for the May 11th class. No other details......Keep moving, nothing else to see here.....

Spoke to Rachel and she said that they are recalling 8. I did not ask her if there was going to be another round after this. Ok, seriously, nothing more to see here.....

boilerpilot 04-20-2009 08:15 AM

Congratulations!

No this doesn't even cover half of the Jan 7th class.

bassslayer 04-20-2009 11:18 AM

PSA recalling? But people are picking up open time. How is this possible?! Congrats to those coming back!

3 from Dec 3rd have the first option on it, then 5 from Jan 7th. Now of course the 3 from Dec 3rd will bypass again. So I would assume after some bypass from Jan 7th, this will pretty much cover the Jan 7th class.

The Jan 7th class was over 20 strong. So even if the three bypass again plus the 2 in class now and 8 new guys that is still at most halfway. I don't know of anyone in the Jan 7th class planning on bypassing, but that is not saying much. I don't know everyone that well.
Secondly:
Can anyone else conform the second recall? I got a letter in the mail but it was just a anouncement that I was again eligible for COBRA. Not that I don't trust John but just want a second opinion.

FlyingNasaForm 04-20-2009 02:30 PM

I talked to the HR lady who sent the letters out today. She said that she thinks she sent out 8 letters.

dwightkschrute 04-20-2009 03:59 PM

Would it be frowned upon to call HR and inquire about my status in regards to whether or not I'll be called back?

Luv2Rotate 04-20-2009 04:01 PM

I dont think it would hurt anything. It'll show you want to come back.

Tiger2Flying 04-20-2009 04:59 PM

Congratulations to those being recalled!!!

trackpilot 04-20-2009 05:17 PM

Yep FedEx rang my door bell today as i was getting ready for work. It's a great feeling!!!:D

meyers9163 04-20-2009 05:23 PM

I personally would not call. Rachel got a bunch of calls on the last attempt and mentioned that it was not the best feeling to tell people, "Sorry but there's an order to it so I cannot tell you more." Keep in mind even if you were 8 in the Jan 7th class, she has to get a firm 3 rejections from the Dec 3rd class. One of whom is in ATC school right now, one who is in Africa and another whom will think about it before accepting or bypassing due to a child on the way. All in all give it time and she will call you if you are getting the letter.

Secondly, if John got a letter Capt it probably means its true. In addition to I am in training right now and also know its been true. In addition to me saying the other day the calls would come today. Get the sense I might know a little? Not much, but I can confirm it is the case. No BS and messing with people about this issue.

I was just waiting for ONE other person to get the nod (which I have) before I got all worked up. You know how well stuff on APC can be trusted. Plus I got all excited when I got a letter from PSA until I opened it, anyone can make a mistake.

I can tell you, I know the three in my class (Dec 3rd) will bypass again. So start from JF on the seniority and if you sit within that you will eventually get a call. I will say the two from your class (Jan 7th) who are in my class got told at the last second. Spoke with both today in lenght and they both mentioned they found out about a week or so before the class. Best of luck!

I am pretty sure I will be in but its a matter of actualy getting the "call".

Furloughee 04-20-2009 06:33 PM

I got that same cobra letter in the mail. Right after JF let me know he got recalled. Excellent news again man.

dwightkschrute 04-20-2009 07:06 PM

Well if those 3 have indeed bypassed and I know someone a couple spots ahead of me that is not coming back so I'd be 8 (I hope!). I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

taymor1234 04-20-2009 07:09 PM

There are still quite a few furloughs to bring back. Then they have to burn through the pool. Plus PSA has been collecting resumes since they first furloughed. On the other hand they updated the mins on the page. I think they were 1000TT 500ME and 121 experience or CRJ class.

etflies 04-21-2009 04:11 AM

Published mins are still CMEL/IA, valid 1st Class medical, etc. but the competitive mins are those listed above. Lets get the guys on furlough back first, still a long way to go until we see some hiring I would imagine! Congrats to those on furlough.

Maybe they should. An ATP should be the minimum for working at an airline. Then the starting pay would be higher.

Yeah just like a major. Oh wait starting pay at a major could be as low as $25.

If you want to call, call, if you want to email her, email.

It doesn't matter if it's frowned upon, you are co-workers. It's not like they can push you farther down the recall list if they don't like you.

You forget, attitude is everything at PSA in training? They go back to training status and they are still on probation. Thus you make the wrong people mad, they can make a reason to get rid of any pilot. Just saying though, what do I know.

If someone gets "mad" over being asked a question when it is their JOB to answer the question when the phone rings once in seven months from an individual that was put out on the street then the person who is getting "mad" needs a reality check. I really doubt anyone is getting "mad." It's an awfully childish feeling to have. If you actually heard someone say that they want to get rid of people who make them mad because they made a phone call then you need to report that incident to the union so your fellow pilots can be protected from the folley of management goons. Also, the only kind of person who would have an attitude problem is the person who cannot manage themselves at work, and be unable to do their job by answering the phone, and answering a question. I find it hard to believe this is actually going on at PSA, and is more of just speculation from a particular PSA pilot on a public message board.

So, I think the real truth is you are all too worried about everyone's feelings. Also, why do you continually make posts here as if you are speaking for co-workers, your fellow furloughed pilots, and some management types at PSA?

The pilots returning to work are not new hires, and there is no reason for anyone to fear, or be worried about how their attitudes are perceived to be in the training department. It is cooperate to graduate, and be a professional aviator. Nothing less. This is the real world, and we are line pilots. The touchy feely office politics of the cubically challenged do not belong.

Nobody is out to get anyone, it's all in your head.:)

CaptKrunch 04-21-2009 05:47 PM

Lets just say no matter what anyone says....... That Dayton Airport Hotel Sucks.

Apparently nothing.

Really? Who said recall phone calls would come on April 20th? :)

If you are going to quote me, get things right. I never said I heard anyone. However you placed on this forum that they are comming back and should not worry about anything. Fact is until 1 year of longevity has been completed, none of us are protected.

Who said I was speaking for anyone? Its a thought and thus a public forum. You are the one who is on a computer, behind a screen name and will not identify yourself in a PM to a fellow co-worker.

You just said two opposite things in this. You said they have nothing to worry about, no reason to fear anyone and or how their thoughts are percieved I assume while they are in class. However again until 1 year is completed, they are back in trainining. They are back to trainee status and not LINE pilots. They must get requalified in the aircraft as well. Thus none of us comming back, are LINE pilots via the companys system. We come back as trainee pilots. But again, like I said what do I know. Apparently you, and one other know everything about PSA.

You are right, I gave false information on the 2nd round of recalls getting phone calls on the 20th of April? Oh wait they indeed got their letters and calls on April 20th for the May 11th class. Which if I remember right, is what I indeed was referring to and was correct about. But again, what do you know? Oh wait I just quoted that above with your own words.

You must be ALOT of fun to fly with..... ;)

seafeye 04-21-2009 07:51 PM

Attitude is everything. It can make or break an upgrade or initial.
Plus a good attitude can give you an extra sim if you need it.
The PSA training dept is Outstanding. If you have a question just ask.
Now when you get on the line, learn the reserve contract inside and out. And don't do anyone favors (Scheduling). No matter what it will take you 1.5 hrs to get to the airport. No Exceptions. Management want to live hard and fast by the contract and we must see to it we do. Only 3 nights in a row. Only 10 hrs of HOT Reserve. Not 10:15. If you think your being screwed let someone know. WELCOME BACK
