If you watch the video that is just to the right of the article you will see what was broadcast on the 10 PM newscast that I saw live last night. Even though the original article that was published soon after the accident (around 6 PM local time) correctly states that it was a ground power unit, the 10 PM news reports that the Dash hit a baggage cart. Obviously the news had the correct information but likely just decided not to use GPU since the majority of the general public might not know what that is.

Let this be a lesson that the news media often distorts truth. Albeit minor in this case, they still had the facts and decided to report false information. You really have to take what these clowns say worth a grain of salt.

My bad.

I should have considered that as an ethically bankrupt, dishonest criminal he'd be prohibited from that................if only the same applied to running an airline.

Geez.........my bad again. Since he's proved he cannot do that either, I'll have to get back to you on this.

anybody know what is happening with the crew? i heard they have already been fired... but i can't believe that they would be let go that quickly - even though the accident seems pretty straight forward.

I completely understand that as a pilot you must be extra diligent on a congested ramp. That being said, I was told during my stint as a ramp agent that I was wholly responsible for any aircraft that I was marshaling and that I would be responsible, and not the pilots, should anything happen.

How is it that these pilots could be fired when they were simply following the direction of the marshaler? If we as pilots can't trust a marshaler what is their purpose? There is a lot to pay attention to while operating in the extremely congested gate areas, I don't think this is the pilots fault and I definitely don't think they deserve to be fired over it.

I haven't heard either way.

But if the company does fire them, they should rest easy knowing the union will get them their jobs back....

Read: sarcasm.

Read: Union = completely worthless.

Good luck to these guys, they may well need it.
