Default How & Who to jumpseat as a 135 pilot

I've heard that 135 pilots can jumpset on Jet Blue and ASA. Any other carriers?

I have a company ID that has my name, picture and description as "Flight Crew" on it. Does anybody have experience jumpseating or flying with 135 jumpseaters?

Don't take em unless you have a recip agreement and your company is in CASS. Besides, buy a ticket, the pax airlines are hurting for $$$$$$.

I don't understand where some of this negativity is coming from.

I'm just inquiring as to the possibilities. My airline doesn't have any kind of agreements or reciprication.

As for my ID, I was wondering what I would need to prove that I was a 135 pilot or what else captains might look for.

Do you even know what reciprocal means?

Who cares if you are a 135 pilot. Still boils down to you want a free ride, while I cant get one on your airline. Sorry cowboy....

Several regionals, including Mesa, are allowed to take 135 guys in the cabin...just make sure you are travelling on PERSONAL business, and not for your company.

121 folks are essentially never allowed on 135 flights, so a lot of guys are luke-warm about it. Also, there has been a history of charter companies telling their pilots to "jump seat" to get to or from an airplane, ie a situation where the 135 company should buy you a seat. We are really NOT excited about helping your company save money so they can better compete with us by stealing our most lucrative customers...

If I ever find out that a 135 jumpseater is travelling for his company, that will be the last one that ever gets on my airplane for free...

It all depends on:
1. The ticket counter people. They need to let you get a pass through security.
2. The gate agent.
3. The captain.
If you can make it through the first two hurdles, you will probably make it past the captain. You'll be sitting in the back anyway.
You need to have a company ID, pilot certificate, medical.
It helps if you are a pilot for a larger, well known 135 operation, such as Airnet.
And yes, you can ride on 135. Back in my 135 freight dog days I actually took some pilots to work who could not get on the 121 flights. Kind of sucked sitting in a Sennaca with a bunch of boxes, but I guess it was better than calling in sick. It helped that we had scheduled runs and the local pilots knew about us.
Also, as some have pointed out, do NOT use it for company business.
