Big pitch change about 20, series of left right banks until finally the airliner spins to the ground.

I understand that, I am more interested to see if there is a visiual representation of the airspeed decay.

During the normal course of conversation the discussion went to the chip detector light on a previous flight with the CA. The FO asked what a chip detec was and the CA went on to explain it. I'm very surprised that a pilot with her experience in truboprop aircraft would not be familiar with chip detectors. Am I reading that part of the transcript correctly?

Regional groundschool focuses on rote memorization of systems diagrams and limitations numbers. Otherwise they would have to flunk out too many new-hires.

If you do not show up with existing mechanical inclination or technical background, you will not really understand how turbine airplanes work. It is getting to be politically incorrect to even imply that a pilot SHOULD understand how airplanes work.

Yet people on here go on and on about not spending the money on an aviation degree to become a PROFESSIONAL pilot. These are the kinds of things a university product is taught. Entire classes on turboprops, jets, airline economics, human factors, CRM, etc.

This is not meant to de-rail the convo, but I thought the exact same thing when I read the transcript. This pilot is flying a turboprop and does not understand what a chip detector is?

Does the Q not have chip detectors?

WHen I was flying E-120s for ASA, too many planes were being grounded for chip detector lights, so it became a MX item to check and pilots would get reprimanded for opening the door where the lights were.
