Some here have claimed on another thread that if the airlines were to require that pilots live at their base the results would be that pilot would quit the profession in droves. In reality if it were to happen I think that there would be a lot of grumbling and UHaul would get a lot of business.

I think you're right. The pilots that commute for these crappy regional schedules already spend a fraction of their month at home anyways at their higher earning spuse or their parents. And I don't really believe the FOs story as well. How is it possible to have any kind of life on 10 days off commuting from SEA to NJ and have a second job at the same time. Assuming each trip you take about 12 hours to get to and from base add it time at the cpad before the trip you will only have about 6 days off actual off days each month. That's no way to live.

I'm glad that you like what you are doing, but please check your facts, you are way off on both accounts. Our guarantee remains 81.25 hours a month and there is a lot of flying to be done on the front side of the clock if you want.

Yep, I do like what I'm doing. And I'm not refering to UPS.

I am sure that will change back eventually. After working at the purple tail through college and a couple years after I can't wait to get back and fly for them. Just might take a lot longer to get there now.....
