The good jobs are disappearing fast.

I wouldn't worry about retiring at a regional. After a couple years as an "Industry leader", some other (bottom) feeder will come along and capture the flying your company captured from the original feeder who got it from the original mainline carrier who still sells the tickets.

And as soon as that feeder gets a decent contract, a new feeder will come along and displace them.

So long as there are any holes in scope, any at all, we will still be happy to help our bosses cut our brothers' throats. So you may in fact "retire" from a regional, but I'd say the chances of retiring from the one you work for today are pretty damn slim.

Don't blame RAH. Blame ALPA, USAir and Dick Henson. It all started back in the 70's with an agreement between Allegheny Airlines and Henson Airlines forming what was then the Allegheny Commuter network. That was when the crack in the dyke started. Blaming RAH now is like closing the barn door after all the horses have fled.

I blame the Wright brothers for all of this!

If a bunch of ignorant idiots start a jump seat war....I say it impacts mainline more than regional guys...

Midwest pilots and THEIR management are as much to blame for any of this as anyone... WHEN jetblast admits that.... I might listen to what he has to say.

And to reiterate a point.... just exactly is it that you expect RW pilots to do.... they are all already qualified... and i suspect the lines will NOT be 190 lines exclusively... WHAT they can do is raise the bar on pay for these aircraft.... STRIKE at the right time over pay yes... but I dont see a strike over the aircraft themselves.

i cant blame RAH pilots anymore than i can blame myself... we're all at fault. our pilot groups are so weak management could make us fly in pink shirts and speedos and we couldnt stoppem. so im not gonna ask a RAH pilot to refuse to fly... if he refuses to fly RAH will just go get some 172 driver who would do it for $14 and hour.

i think one of the large issues at our companies are the pilots with the life sentence. i for one know there are plenty of senor guys at my pathetic company that would jump at the 190. they're not going anywhere and they could careless that the FO is getting paid $24. they're just feelin like bigger men now that they have 100 seats. its these people that weaken our pilot groups and vote yes on things that should be shot down for the greater good.

its not joe FO at RAH thats stoked about this plane... because joe FO knows its true negative impact on the future. its capt ron whos a RAH lifer thats happy.

And keeping the restrictions of the RLA in mind...what exactly is an RAH pilot supposed to do for you right now?

Is it really relevant at this point? We all know where Midwest is heading. The remaining pilot group might as well cut off the rest of TH's gravy train.

I know a couple Republic pilots and it would kill them to know they were replacing mainline jobs. What are they going to do? Quit? They, just like most pilots at RAH and every other regional, are just using RAH as a stepping stone to build time and move on.

oh no they're not ... there stuck on bb for life. "Heavy jet syndrome+shiney jet sydrome = a pandemic plagueing the industry and BB's taking the torch to one city at a time. CTRL ALT DEL.

I completely agree with your sentiment, and see the same thing at my airline...it's always the ultra-senior lifers who, even at a company like Pinnacle, seem to think management is great and that the average pilot should be glad to have a job...I think it happens b/c most lifers were around when most regionals were mom-n-pop operations flying tprops on true regional routes...and they've never shaken that mentality even though now they're flying 175s, 190s, and 900s on formerly-mainline routes...I think most lifers understand the fact that what they fly now keeps us young-uns from having as many mainline opportunities, but they don't care...their sense of entitlement overrides any sense of unity they might have...
