Professionalism VS Its A Job
 

Ive seen it discussed in countless threads.

So lets just get to the endgame and vote on it.

No personal attacks. This is just to see where we all stand on the issue.

Poll is flawed.

I value having my job...but if someone wants to be treated like a professional and compensated like a professional, they must act, dress, and do their job like a professional. This means wearing the uniform properly, remembering you're in a service industry and asking questions when asked by passengers, watching one's language or actions while in uniform, and generally...well, acting like you have a shred of dignity or respect for the responsibilities of the job or the history of the profession.

Anybody who will do their job any more safely or professionally based upon a bigger number on their W2 doesn't value either their professionalism OR their job.

Ive seen enough threads flame on about being on one side or the other. Its merely picking a side of the fence about what a flying job means to oneself.

BTW, my first wife was tarded. Shes a pilot now.

Actually, this poll is flawed. I'd venture a guess that most of the people on this site have a job. So, therefore, the answers would be weighted toward professionalism.

I agree... this poll is flawed. What does being happy to have a job have to do with being a professional? I'm a professional pilot AND I'm happy to have a job.

The time value of money is what's important here. The more you make when you're younger the more you can enjoy life if you make your money work for you. Going through your best years unemployed will make your latter years unbearable financially. I'm 25 and I've already saved up most of my retirement money...hopefully I don't get a wife that takes it all....
