Do flight attendants have it better than FO's

Again with all this talk of FO pay, I began to wonder if the regional flight attendants have it better then the Fo's. Afterall, they don't spend $100k in building hours to only make $20,000 a year. What are your thoughts.

My thoughts are that you couldn't pay me enough to do that mindless job and deal with the rude and clueless public all day.

The triple G's regional airline FA's have it better than anyone in the regional airlines, especially now. "They get in....they get out." Regional FA's come and go in my experience like people in the mickey d's at ORD. ooohh yeah and don't touch... trust me. Some can carry more than just an overnight bag

At Air Willie you'll find a whole mess of different FA's. Some are here for life some are here just to leave here. I think they get paid pretty good compared to other regional FA's and the bennies are good, so a lot of them tend to like it. And I have found that a lot of our FA's have college degrees and are paying off FAFSA stuff. Obviously not to a rate of $700 a month like me but you get what I'm saying. I think they can live just above poverty level if they don't have those payments. If I didn't have mine, I'd really be enjoying life a lot more.

As to being a flight attendant?
I couldn't do it. I'd end up punching someone, or insulting a small child.

I'll second slice's response! But to answer your question...at Mesaba, they definitely do NOT have it better than F/O's...money wise or by any other measure really. However, if you look at it from your perspective about what they had to put in (or rather what they didn't have to put in $$$) to get the job, then perhaps you have a point. Still, I would never take an F/A job even if it was all I could do to stay in the business.

I would not call making $1500 to $1800 and being away from home 15 to 18 days a month a dream job. I'm not even sure why they do it! They can get a job at the ticket counter, make more money and get better pay and bennies.

I think I would be winging coke cans at people's heads on my first day. Here's your d@#n soda.

Surprising?

One of our junior pilots transferred to "inflight" in order to ride out a furlough. According to multiple reports, he was one of the best F/As they had ever seen, and he actually enjoyed his brief tour there.

No they don't have it better, but their entry costs and barriers are very low.
