  • 10 hours max flight time per duty period, reduced 1 hour for each leg. Ie:
1 leg = max 10 hours flight time
    2 legs = 9 hours
    3 legs = 8 hours
    etc.
  • All flights must be operated FAR 121 for the purposes of flight and duty time: no part 91 repos, nor FAR 135 crap (1200 hours, 120 hours/month).
  • 1 in 7 redefined as a "calendar day", not a rolling 24 hour period
Most of these benefit regionals most, but that's where the need is greatest.

I agree... Pilots should be making the limitations regarding rest not some pencil pusher who has no concept on what a 14hr 8leg duty day looks or feels like.
This should be the rule for ALL carriers 121 and 135. I've heard some horror stories regarding 135 operating rules.

Hi!

The airplane I fly was just converted from Sao Thome to Kenya registration, so we now have new flight and duty rules:

105 hours in 28 Days
160 Duty hours in 28 Days (if over 120 non-flying duty can disregard)

MINIMUM REST: 11 Hours (no reduced, or anything else)

15 Hour Max International Duty Day (2 pilots)
10+ Duty=12 hours off (2 more hours rest than duty, all the way to 15+ hours of duty)
If augmented crew, the rest times increase, up to 23+ duty hours, then 33 hours of rest.

12 Hour Max Domestic Duty Day
If U R overnight more than 50 miles from base, you need at least 8 hrs of rest between 2200-0800 local, then:
10+ Duty=10 Rest
11+ Duty=12 Rest

Sees like the rules are better here...

Hmmmm, wayyyyy too early to cheer on the feds. Let's see what actually comes out of these hearings, knowing full well that anything costing airlines money will be fought tooth and nail, regardless of the possible positive effects.
