At some airports, CAL has not spent the money (surprise) to equip the gate(s) with the newer color monitors allowing the agent to "see" your picture. It's not that the station doesn't have CASS. A few out there still have the old black/green CRTs for gate operations. I don't know which though. It is not all out stations.

I have no idea. If I were to guess, anything having to do with helping pilots is at the very bottom of CAL management's list of things to do.

Gotta love CAL and their "ongoing commitment to technology". I feel like a kid again messing around in my dad's office back in 1990 anytime I gotta fiddle with those ancient IBM monochrome screens, the archaic DOS-esque codes and the dot matrix printers. I'm surprised the rampers has electric tugs for pushbacks instead of a team of oxen.
